We stayed here following a long 16 mile walk from Egton Bridge. We received a warm welcome and sat outside drinking a local real ale. The pub has a lot of history and sits in a lovely location high above the village with fantastic views. The room was very long and thin, the TV hard to see from the bed, and the blinds on the windows were missing, but it was handy for the dog with a door leading outside. Our evening meal was well presented and tasty, and the local real ale was very good. A good breakfast in the morning served by friendly helpful staff. Well worth a visit.

We booked a night away on a deal and when we arrived in the beutiful sunshine to a warm welcome and saw the view we wish we had booked the 2 night deal!
Lovely room, nice food, good hosts and was so nice to sit in the garden with the wonderful view with a nice glass of wine. We had a great time, if I was to offer constructive criticism it would be to have darker curtains as the cream blinds and curtains let the sun in very early making it difficult to sleep.

This was my second visit here- the last time in winter. The pub is at the bottom of a steep hill and getting to it is an adventure. The hotel offers everything a country pub should- fantastic views - lovely food- great beer. It is everything you could want and very reasonably priced. It isn't pristine and cob web free - but homely and familiar - dogs are welcome- children too- though not at the bar! Lovingly worn furniture - stuffed animals and log fires in the winter! Rooms are simple and comfy and nothing better than climbing up the stairs after a long day - lovely food , and great beer and company! There is however no mobile phone signal - but free wifi! Will definitely return

This Inn is set in the most beautiful country side with panoramic views. The food is delicious, with a wide variety to choose from at reasonable prices. The staff at the Inn are exceptional helpful, and make every effort to ensure your stay is perfect.

Stayed here on a Living Social Deal for 2 night. Had a lovely stay from start to finish, staff were very friendly and looked after you. The room was a good size and the bathroom was huge. The view was superb. The food was also of a good quality. The location was a good base to tour the moors.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front of hotel we stayed in room 3

We have just returned from a lovely two night break and have only praise for the wonderful service we received. Everything from the room to the food was very good and all the staff were very welcoming. We last stayed here 32 years ago on our first trip to Rosedale Abbey as a new couple this time we were celebrating are Pearl wedding anniversary. The owners may have changed but the beauty of the area has always been special to us and we will back to stay again at the hotel hopefully this year and not another 32! Thankyou for an excellent stay.
( Be warned all food comes in true Yorkshire portions!)

Do not stay here if you have children! We stayed here for one night only with our two kids and a dog. We were crammed into a small room as someone else had the family room! We were greeted on arrival by being told that kids are not allowed in the bar which is the law! Upon seeing our room we were offered two travel cots for the kids (they are age 7 and 4!) We met up with the rest of our party who had stayed two nights. When it came to our evening meal out table was only set for 8 instead of 10 so we had to push tables together to accommodate ourselves. It really felt like we were shoe horned in. I complained the next morning about paying for a family room when we were crammed into a double room, we were told it was fine to not pay but the man had a dig about our dog barking! I wasn't impressed and wouldn't go back
