“Lovely Bank Holiday Weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2013

We have had a great weekend in Pickering at one of Bramwood's cottages - The Old Coach House which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. I chose this place as it had WiFi - essential for my teenage son! We think that as the guest house and cottages were full the WiFi didn't work so bare this in mind if it is important. We stayed four nights, however the final night the house wasn't as busy and the WiFi worked fine. The lack of it did not spoil our holiday and my son survived!
Pickering is a lovely town and close to Castle Howard, Eden Camp, the North York Moors Railway and Flamingo Land. Four days wasn't enough for us!

A surprise treat from my fiancee en route to my birthday day out was made all the better having stayed here. A wonderful period decorated Guest House, with very welcoming hosts. I'm not in the habit of giving praise when it's not deserved but this place gets full marks from me. If you are in this area look no further for a place to stay you will not be disappointed.

What can i say that hasnt already been said!
Stayed here for a short 2 night break for a weekend in July.
It's a fabulous property in the centre of Pickering which makes it incredibly convenient. Once we parked our car in the free car park, we didn't need to move it again until going home.
Made to feel very welcome by Helene & Richard when we arrived. Room was spotlessly clean, comfortable & inviting.
Breakfast was a delight with lovely fresh fruit salad to start, followed by perfectly cooked a scrambled eggs. The locally sourced bacon was the best I'd tasted. You really should stay here as it has everything you want in a b&b make your stay wonderful. We will return!

We booked at the Bramwood months ago based on all the positive reviews, and I can only add mine to the same.
The B&B is in the town centre (albeit a small town) next to the Church of Sts Peter & Paul (also well worth a visit). The whole house and indeed garden too is themed "olde worlde" or " Laura Ashley" and extremely pleasant. We had quite a large room on the top floor with en-suite. I was a bit worried about the temperature as there was a heat wave on when we visited, but I slept well; the room was comfortably temperate and we didn't need to make use of the fan. The hospitality tray was well stocked, lovely toiletries, towels (inc wash cloths!) plentiful.
Breakfast is served downstairs in what one assumes was the cellar - if you go by the hooks in the ceiling, please correct me if I'm wrong - but now can best be described as a dining kitchen with our host catering to our every need whilst our hostess prepared the cooked breakfast in a "proff.kitchen" just off to the side. This gave a very home-from-home atmosphere which seemed to fall in favour with all the guests. Being nice weather we took our coffee cups out in the garden after breakfast to relax and enjoy the flowers.
The courtyard car park was small, but our host knew exactly how we should park and came out to help shortly after we arrived.
An extremely enjoyable stay, and I can unhesitatingly recommend the Bramwood.

Thank you for your review. We hope that you had a safe journey to Manchester and then home. Bramwood was built in 1735 so it certainly has a traditional feel. Although i am afraid I do have to correct you ! Breakfast is served in the original kitchen where cured meats would perhaps have been hung, and the cellar is in the basement.

Stayed at Bramwood B&B from 6th July 2013 for 6 days. The house and gardens are beautiful, the tastefully decorated house keeping the character from when it was first built. Helene and Richard are lovely people who made us feel very much at home, and nothing was too much trouble. We dropped lucky with the weather and were able to make good use of the garden which is lovingly maintained, being both pretty and fragrant. Breakfast was excellent with a daily specials board available, so that you could choose something different everday if you wished. Local produce was used where possible and available to purchase i.e marmalades, if you wanted to take some home as a souvenir. Cake was in the lounge every day and we were welcomed with cake and coffee. Hospitality tray was well stocked each day. Altogether it was a lovely relaxing place to spend our holiday.

Would highly recommend and hope to return soon!

We have just returned from a short break at the Bramwood, it was our first stay but will definitely not be our last. The hosts, Richard and Helene couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was fresh, hot and made use of locally sourced food and superbly cooked. They also catered for any 'add ons' we asked for. The bedrooms were spotless with an ample supply of tea, coffee, biscuits etc. The location couldn't have been more central for Pickering in a beautiful part of this lovely town. If you are planning on a trip to Pickering this is the only place to stay.

My friend and I spent three nights at Bramwood in July 2013.We were welcomed with tea and cake before being shown our two single rooms which were spotlessly clean and very comfortable and roomy. The toiletries were very nice and the welcome tray had ample choices of beverages - it was nice too that a new bottle of water appeared each day. Breakfast was excellent - better than many 4* hotels - with extra choices each morning. We didn't need to take the car out while we were there because it was so easy to walk into town through the churchyard and to the railway station too. Helene and Richard were superb hosts who gave a very relaxed atmosphere to our break and it was a real pleasure to chat to them each day. Sitting in the garden in the early evening was just delightful too - an unexpected bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year
