Having booked Eleven Westgate because of our mountain biking I expected something a little rough and ready. How wrong was I. The rooms are clean and tasteful and well equiped with comfy beds. There is a homely front room with plenty of reading, games and films for relaxing. The Breakfast has plenty of options, I had full english, it was the best I've had outside my own kitchen with quality stuff and real HP sauce!

The best thing was the welcome from Mike and Amanda who are great hosts, nothing is a hassel, leading to a totally stress free stay - what more could you want.

On top of the above my friend and I booked Mike for moutain bike intruction. We were some what sceptical of what we could learn. We are both now far more confident at tackling anything the trail might throw up and feel we have learn't some invaluble new skills. Mike is qualified CTC instructor add this to his easy going teaching style and you can't have but a good time improving yourself.

I'm going back as soon as I can to explore more trails and more of yorkshire with steam trains leaving from the station near by to whitby it's just the kind of place my wife and young son will love.

Wow! We had two 'home from home' posts on the same day, from bikers and non bikers! That's exactly the feeling we like all of our guests to leave with. We're not so much about modern luxuries, more about comfy, cosy, welcoming and friendly with lots of local knowledge and lots of home comforts. We have many bikers who have stayed and then return with their families to experience more of what our wonderful area has to offer. Mike says he'll have to try your breakfasts sometime and he's really glad you enjoyed the riding. :o) Thanks for your lovely comments. Amanda.

Our first stay at Eleven Westgate and I would definitely recommend to others, particularly mountain bikers. Despite having to cope with emails starting about 10 months in advance of the visit (!), Mike and Amanda were incredibly courteous, helpful and friendly, helping to make my partner's birthday present of a mountain bike weekend really fantastic. There was no 'I'm sorry, we don't offer that particular kind of ride,' or 'there isn't enough for a group ride so we can't go', it was 'individual ride, basically showing your boyfriend around the forest - sure, no problem!'. My partner had two great rides, being shown around the Dalby Forest by Mike, really challenging himself on some world cup runs and enjoying every minute of it. The B&B itself was clean, spacious, with fabulous breakfasts and even Sky Sports! The hosts' knowledge of local eateries and attractions was also first-rate. Although parking is on an unrestricted road, we found it no problem to get a space right in front of the door (on a bank holiday weekend), and it's really easy access for bikes into the secure area of their garden. All in all, a great weekend and a great place. Thanks Mike and Amanda!

Thanks lots for your fantastic comments and don't worry about the time it took to get you sorted. Hopefully all the best stays are worth waiting for, particularly when you're booking it as a gift! We do appreciate that for some, on street parking isn't always appealing, particularly if you're used to hotel parking but there's usually plenty of parking on street at the front and if you can't get right outside then it might be just up the road.

It's great to hear you enjoyed dining out during your stay. We're very lucky to have some great places to eat in Pickering and all just a short walk away. We're always happy to book tables for our guests too and have copies of menus from most places to help you decide.

Thanks again for your review and we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Mike.

Yet another excellent stay with Mike and Amanda, as ever nothing was to much trouble. Making the arrangements was very easy and we received a fantastic welcome. As ever the room was spotless and the breakfast was just awesome. If you want to explore North Yorkshire this is an excellent base, we went to Whitby on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which is only a 5 mins walk and York is just down the road.

I cant recommend Eleven Westgate highly enough and fully deserves 5 stars

Room Tip: You will be pleased with any of the rooms

Many thanks for your kind review. It's always great to welcome returning guests and when they bring partners, friends or family along to enjoy a stay with us it's even better! It was great to hear about your lovely day on the steam train and we're already looking forward to the next time...

I had never stayed in a B & B before and this was a revelation! Truly 5* accommodation and service. Amanda has thought of everything and made us feel special. The rooms and ensuites were extremely clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast was fabulous. Our teenage daughter had been nervous about staying in a room on her own for the first time but was relaxed and really enjoyed it as it felt so homely. I can't recommend Eleven Westgate enough - we had a fabulous time. We will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: All the rooms were very quiet, spacious and comfortable

I stayed here on my own for a couple of nights midweek in August 2013.

The welcome was great, the room a good size and the facilities spotless. Very little noise from the other rooms and no traffic noise at all as I was at the back of the substantially built house. Nothing was too much trouble for Amanda, who obviously has put her heart and soul into the place. I didn't meet Mike, but I did eat two of his excellent full English breakfasts, which endeared him to me no end.

Good location a short walk from the town centre - there are some good restaurants (I recommend the Bistro off the Market Place - not cheap but excellent food and service) and several above average pubs in Pickering. The town itself is a great centre for exploring the surrounding area. I'm not a cyclist myself, but Mike and Amanda offer facilities for those who are.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway makes for an excellent day out all the way to Whitby and back and Eleven Westgate is well located for this too. All in all an excellent stay.

This B&B well deserves its high rating on TripAdvisor.

Strongly recommended.

We recently stayed at Eleven Westgate on a family trip, it is in a great location about 10-15 minutes from Flamingo Land and just a short walk into the lovely town of Pickering (some really nice restaurants and little shops). The rooms were spotless (both made into twins), nicely presented and had everything we needed. Amanda was a lovely host very helpful and cooks a brilliant breakfast! Would definitely recommend it and stay here again.

We (parents and 9-year old) had a brilliant time in this wonderful house and were greeted with such an amiable and warm hospitality that made our stay very special!
The room was beautiful and the breakfast so good that we had to stay on another night from what we had originally planned.
Thank you again, Amanda and Mike, for the lovely time we had in your house!
