Dear Robin D

Many thanks for your review of your recent stay at The Midland. Just to clarify, our dog friendly policy does apply to all room types, and there is no restriction on sea view rooms. I do hope to welcome you back in the near future when you can all enjoy the view!

This has been my 2nd stay in the Midland, in as many weeks.
The 1st time I stayed I wasnt really sure about it, theres something kind of weird about it.
Iv heard all the hype about it over the years, so was eager to stay and sample it.
The outside is impressive. But the inside although tastefully and perfectly decorated in the Art decor style, it lacks that certain friendlyness and warmth of a true hotel.
The ground floor is one wide open space, no little nooks or comfy areas to settle or relax. True there is plenty of seating, but you will never find people sitting there, as it has the same feeling as a busy airport/bus station and indeed hospital. No true atmosphere just a bright whitewashed lobby.
The bar area was totally sterile, no feeling of its historic Glam past, Empty bar tops and bright areas around spoilt any "ambiance" totally. I thought the bar area should have been perfect for showing off art deco memorabilia, but nothing.
The rooms I stayed in were like.....Art deco meets Ikea. It had a great idea of hiding everything (inc the toilet) behind various doors. But for me the colour tastes just didnt go.
Breakfast was a pleasure, being sited in a massive glass frontage sea view restaurant.
All staff were friendly and polite.
I managed to blag a look at the roof top penthouse, which if you can afford it ,is amazing.
Overall the hotel is warm, secure, and well just " kind of weird".

Room Tip: ask for a sea view, as some times the pub opposite can be noisy at closing times. also ask to have...

Dear Paul S

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at The Midland.
I was sorry that, depsite an overall positive experience, we failed to meet your expectations in certain areas. I was also suprised to read of your assertion that guests never sit in our Lobby (something you refer to as 'whitewashed??), and am sorry that your impression of some areas was one of sterility and a lack of friendliness.
Thank you for your comments and I hope to welcome you back soon.

Best regards

Spent Sunday 10th November and Monday 11th November at the wonderful MIdland Hotel. My second visit this year. What a wonderful experience a beautiful hotel in a lovely location with some of the nicest bedrooms I have stayed in. The rooms are warm, comfortable and luxurious with everything you need for a good nights sleep. The bathrooms are beautiful and one of our bedrooms had a lovely sea view - complete with binoculars to check out the view ! The dining experience was second to none and we had the most delicious evening meal and excellent wine. Breakfast was just as satisfying with a great choice of food on the breakfast menu - I can highly recommend the porridge which was lovely. The staff were friendly and attentive. I noticed a couple and a baby girl at breakfast who were really well looked after by the staff - even to washing her own little dish out and wrapping her some extra food to take away with her. All in all a most memorable experience and already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: On a previous trip I stayed in room 101 and it was a room on the front and was round - great size an...

We stayed here for one night and wished it could have been longer. This hotel is a must for all Art Deco fans. Its restoration manages to combine the character of the Art Deco era with all modern comforts. The reception staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Our sea view room (212) was huge and superbly appointed. The provision of a pair of binoculars in the room was a very nice touch, as the views from our window were stunning!
Dining in the evening was a little formal but the food was good and the atmosphere was perfectly in keeping with the style of the hotel. It looked as though the menu does not change very often but there were enough tempting dishes to satisfy throughout a stay. Breakfast was a very relaxed affair and the cooked breakfast was excellent. The serving staff went out of their way to be helpful.
Morecambe was better than I remembered it a few years ago. The sea front has been much improved with some imaginative regeneration work which complements the hotel. We certainly intend to return.

A superb hotel with terrific 1930s features. The evening meal was delicious, as was breakfast with a plentiful supply of everything. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. The room was terrific and the provision of binoculars to look out to sea a very nice touch. It is a beautiful location and we will certainly return in Summer to appreciate the promenade. It will be a definite stopping point for coffee or afternoon tea too.
Can't rate it high enough - I'm so pleased it was saved from dereliction.
Look out for the special events too - Murder Mystery etc.

Room Tip: We had room 214, just at the top of the stairs or by the lift but lovely and quiet as the bathroom h...

Excellent service, all staff went out of their way to be helpful, the food was amazing, the bed was unbelievably comfortable, the bath was HUGE, the toilet cleverly hidden (ask if you need help!), even a tiny fridge in my sea view room, the 'wardrobe' contained iron, ironing board, etc, and the hotel itself was a magnificent restoration of a beautiful Art Deco building, set right on the sea front, with stunning views across the bay...well worth a visit!
