“Dinner”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

I dined at the Midland a few months ago and had wonderful food but very poor service, however, I went back again for dinner with a party of 8 persons on the 14th December and both the food and the service were exemplary. The hotel cannot be praised high enough for the way it has turned itself around and must now surely be one of the leading lights in the North of England. When next in the North of England I shall certainly aim for the MIdland.

Beautiful hotel, friendly service, excellent restaurant..... Fantastic views over the Bay.
Rooms stylish with quirky design features. Beds very comfortable. A storm swept through the bay while we were there but our room was snug & quiet.
Try not to eat too much at dinner.....breakfast is equally good.
We didn't want to leave & we will be back.

Room Tip: It's got to be a sea view room

My wife and I have just spent a very delightful couple of nights at the Midland, the rooms were different, quirky and very clean with great ammenities. We ate both nights in the rotunda bar and the food was excellent although the menu was a little limited if I was to be picky. The only disappointment was that having read the hotel information we got the distinct impression that the pool, sauna, hot tubs were on-site but unfortunately these were situated at a sister hotel several miles away and so the anticipated use of these facilities was not really practical. I feel the information on the website and Hotel information on the booking confirmation should be alot clearer regarding the location of these facilities and the travel distance involved but a very enjoyable stay nevertheless.

Dear barney_rubble267

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay, which I was pleased to read was, overall, enjoyable.
I was sorry to learn of your disappointment with the location of our company leisure facilities - something we do try to make as clear as we can on our website and printed literature, and please accept my apologies for this.
I do hope to welcome you back soon.

We reviewed the Midland a couple of years ago and rated it highly then, although we felt there may have been one or two (forgiveable) teething problems. We have visited several times since and have seen a great improvement in food quality - prepared to perfection and presented with care and a creative flair.
Service continues to be friendly, personal, professional.
The environment is stunning - this lovely lady sits like a ship at the edge of Morecambe Bay. To look out over the ever-changing moods of the Bay from the most iconic art deco/contemporary building in the world is an experience we will continue to repeat year after year.

Room Tip: Sea facing are wonderful - waking up to the Bay, its weather and the sound of only the sea, however...

My husband and I booked our Personal Christmas Party here, there was just one table of two amongst many work party tables.

We arrived to a glass of prosecco and soon went in to find our table. We were sat near the front of the room, and our table was laid with all the usual decorations and our pre-ordered wine was also waiting for us.

There were plenty of staff and very organised.

The food was excellent, not rushed, but we weren't waiting forever either.

After the meal there was a disco.

The hotel is absolutely lovely, and you get the wow factor as soon as you walk through the small front doors and see the view through from the wall of glass overlooking Morecambe Bay,

We didn't stay overnight as we live quite local.

Would we go again, definately, this is my Dinner Dance venue of choice. Already planning an afternoon tea and more spa treatments (which are also always excellent).

Thank you

On arrival we were immediately made to feel at home with an excellent welcome from the reception staff. The sea view room was of excellent design with some nice features. All parts of the hotel were impressive with attentive staff throughout. Dinner was a highly pleasurable experience with superior quality food including the almost mandatory Morecambe bay shrimps! Overall, this is a well managed, unique hotel with very little to be critical about. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are likely to be quieter

Booked for an anniversary weekend break at relatively short notice, initially couldn't find it before we realised it was the strikingly lit hotel on the promenade side of the road, standing it out from all others. The hotel looks slightly less striking during the day, but is beautiful in the evening when lit up.

Inside the hotel is stunningly decorated, as pretty as any I've stayed in lately with a big sweeping staircase to the rooms. We got a sea view room (a must I would say) which was very nicely decorated, extremely roomy and had its own balcony with a proper view of the sea. The decor was outstanding and the whole place spotless. I have one small issue, the toilet is right next to the bed, (if the moving wall wasn't there you could high five from it!) so not ideal for the reserved but other than that it was spot on.

We didn't utilise many of the hotel facilities, but the restaurant and bar were busy, it was popular for functions (a Christmas party and a wedding while we were there) and you could access gym and pool facilities at their sister hotel a few miles away.

I can't say Morecambe is exactly flourishing on my first proper visit, but we liked it and would return as long as we stayed in this hotel.

Room Tip: Definitely want a sea view
