The problem with the 'Headway' Hotel is that it is a classic seaside B&B. There is no getting away from the fact it is mainly catered for older clients, more so coach trips.

From the outside it doesnt look to daunting, though it looks like all the others. There is space for about 3 cars outside, leaving other residents to park on the roadside. Once you enter you are greeted fairly enough, given your keys. You can walk up the stairs or if your feeling brave you can use the very old lift! Something out of an ole movie, it looks like a door but it is in fact a very small lift.

The room itself is alot to be desired, a very small room with a tiny bathroom, just about enough space to sit on the toilet! The bathroom is also a very nice 'green' colour with just as bad choice of wallpaper.

The room I stayed in was freezing the whole time I was there, at one point I thought the hotel was going to fall down with the wind whacking off the roof!

There was no clear instructions on how to sort the radiator out, despite getting it checked it never did work at all. The decor in the room was just as horrid as the bathroom. Very old fashioned, not very trendy or upto date at all.

The food was bland and boring, felt like basic microwave meals. Hardley anything had any taste, we could of been eating anything because it had no taste and came to us cold and even sometimes still a bit frozen. If you like your IceCream with an iceberg in it, then this is the hotel for you.

I feel this hotel could be alot more better with a bit of TLC, a makeover and some decent food.

I would not stay it this hotel again.

It was almost as time had stood still as we booked into the Headway for one night, just passing by on the offchance. Efficient staff took our booking and the quaint decor in this once grandiose hotel was only complemented by the wonderful lift contraption.

Making our way to rooms that were straight out of the 1950's was interesting but let's not be too critical here. The rooms and the hotel were clean, comfortable and spacious. Just like it used to be. The sink and illuminated mirror in the bedroom was just like it should be.......

Entertainment was of course one man on his organ and at the grand old age of 54 I felt like a grandchild amongst my more senior party goers in the ballroom. God could some of them move, every five or ten minutes, incredible fitnesses levels were displayed by the guests moving their arm from one side of the chair to the other.

It was a stay that you could see on a period drama on the TV but yes it was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was fine and the staff friendly and hospitable. So stay there for a night and soak in the atmosphere and then step outside back into the 21st century!
