“Great hotel overlooking the sea”
Reviewed 24 January 2014

Meals were excellent, staff were friendly and helpful and the entertainment was good. We went with Shearings for a 5 day break after xmas and the trip was such good value with the travel, meals, entertainment and excursions included. The lift was a bit difficult with a wheelchair but we got used to it and the walk in shower that we requested was a help, as well as being near the lift so we found our disabled mother didn't need wheelchair unless we went out of the hotel. The only negative comment we have is that we would have like the breakfast a bit later especially with having an elderly disabled relative who struggled to make it down to breakfast each day. I tried to organise breakfast in our room but was told this could only be a cold breakfast so she had to come down if she wanted a hot breakfast.

Room Tip: If you have elderly and/or disabled family then request a room near the lift and with a shower that...

Just returned from a 5 day coach trip with Shearings, which was as usual great value for money. The Bay Strathmore is like all the Bay hotels little dated but very clean and it's position on the sea front is lovely, about 25 min walk into town but there are buses outside the hotel every 15 mins. The rooms had everything we needed, including a shower cubicle and plentyhot water, they were warm and the bedding was clean and of decent quality. Food at both breakfast and dinner was a very good standard with choices to suit all. Entertainment on an evening was very good, probably the best we've seen. Finally the staff were excellent we couldn't have asked for more.

We have recently spent 2 nights at the Strathmore Hotel 27/28 December as part of a National Holidays mini break. Prior to our arrival we decided to upgrade to a sea view room which was well worth the extra few pounds with a wonderful view of Morecambe Bay and the mountains of the Lake District in the background. Our room was very clean and comfortable the bed was firm and the bedding was of good quality, no complaints at all. There was a hospitality tray in the room to make tea and coffee, the bathroom appeared to have been recently refurbished was a good size with a large window looking over the bay there was an over the bath shower which although not a power shower still did the job. We stayed on a half board basis the meals were all good and both breakfast and dinner were waiter service which was a pleasant change to the normal buffet arrangements. The waiting staff were very friendly and super efficient and we didn't have to wait long for our orders to be taken. Each evening there was entertainment in the lounge/bar area which we also enjoyed. The only negatives were the corridors are in need of a paint as the skirting boards and doors to the rooms are looking a little jaded with chipped paint. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our couple of days at the Strathmore all staff that we met were all friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: Well worth upgrading to a sea view room on the third floor

We stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend with Shearings self drive. The whole experience was good from booking in to booking out.
The room on the 3rd floor had a sea view and appeared to have been decorated recently, it was very clean, comfortable and warm. Breakfast and dinner were served in a comfortable dining room with very good staff doing their best to make the stay as enjoyable as possible. The food like the room was excellent value for money.
We had entertainment on each of the three nights and that was also very good.
All in all a very comfortable stay and excellent value for money with very good staff.
We shall definitely return.

Staff are a credit to the hotel,so helpful.Leon is so nice as was Leila who served our table of seven. The food is very very good and special requests were catered for.The room we stayed in was refurbished and had a bay view so lovely. The shower was very small and for anyone who had a bit of extra weight they would struggle to have a comfortable shower, also the shower tray was quite high off the floor and I was a bit nervous getting in and out.The entertainment was the same as last year.It would be nice to have had a Xmas sing a long some of the song choices were a little mournful!!Drink vouchers for 4 free drinks one night only, last year we had 4 every night of our stay which spoilt us because the price of the drinks was so expensive over £4 for a gin and small tonic and the cordial with TAP water was ridiculous. This is no reflection on the staff but on the company who own the hotel.I would definitely return to The Strathmore our party of 7 ladies enjoyed our weekend.Darren the coach driver deserves a mention too.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view well worth it

what fantastic value this hotel is.upgraded to a seaview room and well worth it(even the bathroom has a full picture window overlooking the fabulous morecambe bay and lake district,it was more like a loo with a view).food is excellent without being haute cuisine and the staff must be the most friendliest we have encountered for a while which has to be down to good management.entertainment is provded each night and was very good.would recommend the strathmore to anyone who wants good value for money.

I went with Shearings and had a brilliant week. The hotel was warm and everyone of the staff was so friendly and helpful. My single sea facing room was clean with a shower over the bath. Thomaz was excellent, so friendly and helpful. Meals were plentiful and varied. Great value holiday. Lovely comfy bed
