How this place has never achieved Michelin Star approval is beyond me. Run by chimps. Chimps that have no sense of time. An hour to wait for a steak. We all ate separately, all ordered at the same time. No cutlery. Tables not cleaned. All for £30. Get a takeaway people

“Rubbish”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Rare steak was well done and had to be sent back. Four of us eating & food didn't come out at same time. It's ok if you're drinking & fancy a snack but not somewhere I would plan to go out to eat.

“Good local pub”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

We eat here regularly as we live fairly local.
The food is typical pub grub, so if you go expecting Cordon Bleu, then don't go.
Most of the staff are very good and very friendly, however there has been a new wave of staff and some of the younger female waitresses can be quite abrupt. I know they are busy, but it doesn't do much for your dining experience....... a small gripe, but they are young and probably don't realise they are doing it....

It's usually quite busy, so it is a popular local. But we like it - even thought a lot of the reviews here are negative - we have never had a bad meal here.

“Ignorant and inconsiderate”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

THE REVIEW WOULD BE NO STARS IF IT WOULD LET ME.
This is a pub that all of us, over the last thirty plus years have frequented from time to time. None of us live locally now but have gone in whenever we have been in the area.

After spending a large amount of money at the bar over the evening we were told we had to drink up right now as we are closing. We weren't given the grace of being told they were closing in ten or fifteen minutes and could we drink up please , just basically told to drink up NOW we're closing and you have to go. It wasn't even done in a pleasant way and all of us were shocked at how rude he was. None of us were drunk or noisy or caused any upset to other customers, so there was no good reason for his obnoxious attitude. My partner spoke to him and told him how aggrieved we felt and his attitude was 'couldn't care less' as was shown by his demeanour and repetition of 'yeah I hear you' whilst his partner or wife openly laughed.

It was one of the rare occasions that family members can get together, as one lives abroad and another has just won the battle with cancer and is finally able to socialise again. A wonderful night was tainted by the rudeness of the landlord at the end of the night and we will never return again.

We can and will spread the news locally. I am sorely disappointed. I hope he gets the business success that he deserves.

“Not amused”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

The night started badly tailed off a bit during the middle, the less said about the end the better.

Staff were rude, wine was terrible (it had never seen the inside of a grape).

Dog hair in the food only added to the flavour.

I would have got up and complained if I wasn't stuck to the seats.

Would rather catch leprosy.

Yours sincerely, won't be returning, Paul Nelson.
