“Old-fashioned style in an old-fashioned town”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

I'm giving this 4 stars because for Morecambe I think it's one of the better places to stay, maybe in a different town I'd give a bit less - but it's a perfectly nice place, with lovely views of the bay, friendly staff, and a good location (including parking). As others have observed, the decor is rather dated, and the rooms are on the small side; toiletries are also limited. Breakfast was ok - it was nice that it was brought the table rather than a buffet. The bar was quite pleasant in the afternoon. We had an internet deal on the price which I think was fair value for money - and if you're planning to stay in Morecambe, I would definitely recommend this hotel over others.

Me and my wife stayed here at the weekend for 1 night. upon checkin the staff were gre3at and the bar staff brill, the room was clean and we had a nice view of the bay area.

But as my titles says BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. well breakfast was a different deal, i think me and my wife had 2 heads or something along them lines. Upon walking into the breakfast room we asked where we should sit, the staff there said anywhere we wanted so we sat near to the table, the table needed a little wip but that was ok and we needed equipment to eat with again not a problem. The table was cleaned and we waited for the male waiter to replenish the eating things and cups and we waited and we waited well 15 mins went by after looking at us 10 or 12 times he came over and made the table. Our cornflakes were now soggy and when asked if we wanted to order our english breafast we just said after we have finished our cornflakes.

Well we finished and waited and waited and you get the drift we waited and waited 5 other couples came in and were asked and served there english breakfast, but not us once again, so I went to receptions and asked if someone to could take our order, he did with the great smile and charm of a brick coming throu the window and we waited 35 mins for our order to be taken and further 15mins to cook a poached egg , bacon, a sausage, fried bread and 1 tom.

My tip is dont p...s them off or you will be left to last or very near. I will be writing to the Manager and making this formal. That was my only downside to our stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view or you will get the carpark or the raod at the back of the hotel.

We stayed at this Hotel from 13th to 16th July. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean, we had a very large room with a sea view. As the hotel is on West End Road, it was very quiet and peaceful. Jackie the Manager was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very good. On the evening of 13th they had a trio of musicians and a singer, they were all very entertaining.
The hotel also has the Waterfront Restaurant on site and the food there is excellent. Piping hot and a very good selection of fish and grills. Should we visit Morecambe again, we would definitely stay at The Clarendon.

Room Tip: With a sea view.

Had a very enjoyable visit to this 'old fashioned' hotel. Likeable 'family' run hotel. Staff were very professional and polite - nothing too much trouble.
Evening meals are excellent value and breakfast was extremely good.
The only downside was that the rooms decor needs upgrading - a bit tired.
But on the whole a very good experience

Room Tip: book early to get a room with a sea view

lovely staff, very helpful.
We had a groupon deal so for the price we paid we were more than happy. We had a seaview room which was lovely and very clean but the furniture is a little dated.
Service was excellent. Breakfast was lovely but the evening meal was disappointing.

Room Tip: it's definately worth paying a little more for a seaview room

Read up reviews before booking and weren`t disappointed. Staff all very friendly. Room spotless and comfortable. We were lucky and had a lovely sea view. Only had breakfast when we stayed but again, very good. Possibly the nicest sausage I`ve had (locally produced).
Wouldn`t hesitate to return. I`m sorry I never got the name of the Nightshift Manager who also cooked breakfast, great guy. Deserves a mention.

Room Tip: Sea view if available

Just returned home from another fantastic stay at the Clarendon. (our fourth}. The staff are fabulous (especially Peter and Mahmood) always make us feel welcome and do everything in their power to make your stay as comfortable as possible, nothing is too much trouble at all. Food was fantastic and the service, room clean and comfortable. Even our little dog Lucy is made a fuss of, what more can I say??? Fabulous! We are so looking forward to our next visit.
