This hotel is a genuinely old building and it's quite fascinating to walk around the corridors. It is in spacious grounds and next to a small lake on adjacent woodland owned by the local authority and/or the Severn-Trent water board. We had an executive room on a special offer. It was spacious with several easy chairs, including a recliner, with an extra-large very comfortable bed. It had 4 windows including one in the well appointed bathroom. We ate in the bar; the service was good and it was quicker and cheaper than the restaurant. We found this to be a quiet and very pleasant and comfortable place to stay and excellent value. In terms of location it is on its own so not somewhere you can stroll out from to see the town. But it is a very easy drive to Iron Bridge Gorge. There is a walk around the lake but it's not a very well managed area of countryside. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We would certainly stay there again should the occasion arise, but check to avoid coinciding with a wedding, as judging from the wedding books in the foyer, this is the kind of business they are aiming to attract.

Room Tip: Aim for an executive room if possible on special offer. All room should be quiet.

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the past couple of months. We chose the all inclusive deal the first time and were lucky to be invited back last weekend by friends for their wedding.

I cannot fault this hotel from the initial friendly welcome, the large excellent clean rooms, food and first class service from staff at all times. The all inclusive deal is excellent with lunch, two course evening meal and bar (House wine and beers) from 7pm to 11pm.

This hotel will now be on my annual list for short break!

Please give it a try you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night all inclusive break celebrating our anniversary. We stayed in the four poster historic room which truly wowed us. Unfortunately the bathroom contained an ancient jacuzzi bath which obviously had not not worked in many years, we were not happy to use the bath as the open jet apertures and connecting pipe work would presumably have contained stagnant water! It did have a shower attachment on the taps although no fitting on the wall, so taking a shower was very awkward. The duty manager did offer to move us to an executive room but we chose to stay as the room was so lovely. He also gave us a bottle of wine and an upgraded drink in the bar. The food was a bit hit or miss, lovely the first night, one very good steak and one very poor steak on the second night. Again the manager did his best and didn't charge us the supplement for either, however, I think he could have gone a bit further as it spoils the evening when the food isn't good. I had the smoked haddock and eggs for breakfast both of which were over cooked and hadn't been drained properly so I had to try and sop the water off my plate with my napkin. My husband enjoyed the hot buffet, so I chose that the following morning. The eggs were hard, which is to be expected when sitting on a hot plate for a while but no problem they brought us one each on a plate freshly cooked, unfortunately they had dripped fat all on the plates! The sausages were full of fat which ran out in rivers when you stuck a fork in them and the beans were dry. We were given a packed lunch to take out on Saturday which consisted of one ham and one egg sandwich of very poor quality and one packet of crisps. In summation every member of staff was fantastic and couldn't have tried harder or been more friendly, but for such a magical location it seems a case of spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar. Come on Mercure, back up and give your excellent staff the support they deserve, sort out that awful bathroom and up the quality of the kitchen.

Stayed in a four poster hotel room. Was amazing. Overlooked a lake with geese. Had an old feel to room. Uneven bouncy floor gave it character.

Very romantic. Only negative was someone knocking on the door at 2am for ages!! And again at 9am

I would go again. Lovely building. Nice grounds

We would just like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at the telford court hotel who made our stay very enjoyable and comfortable. We booked via great little breaks (through travel zoo) and thoroughly enjoyed the all inclusive basis. The evening meal was exceptionally good, the meals were a very high standard, particularly the braised feather of beef, yum! A great quiet retreat, even though two weddings were taking place (which did not disturb us). Room was lovely and private (we stayed in Gatehouse 1, really lovely and full of character, especially the slanting floor!) can't wait to come again.
Thanks again

Two couples for two nights at this great hotel. The all-inclusive deal was good value and the grounds are lovely. We had a room in the east wing just off reception. It was larger than you would expect. The beds were comfortable and the room had everything you need. The bathroom was a good size but let down by the the limited space for 'stuff'. This is a very old hotel and has a good character. Breakfast was lovely, and the evening menu is excellent. Plenty of room for private space. Loved it. Well worth the cost. Highly recommended.

We would like to thank all the staff at Madeley Court for going above and beyond to enable us to have an absolutely perfect wedding day. Everybody was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff. The venue is beautiful and the organisational skills of Gemma and Michelle in particular are second to none. We would highly recommend this venue to anybody wanting a stress free wedding day or simply a night away from everyday hustle and bustle. Thanks again, from Mr & Mrs Archer, married here 24/07/14.

Room Tip: This hotel has both historic and modern rooms. Room 50 is an especially nice modern room with a huge...
