“Are these the worst chips in hartlepool?”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

This is the third time eating here and i cannot praise the fish enough. The fish was cooked perfectly, The delicious moist fish was coated in a lovely crispy batter but oh my, the chips were awful. I have to wonder how a place can serve maybe the best fish in hartlepool alongside the worst chips. Most of the plates on other tables had lots of chips left on them - do the waitresses tell the kitchen? It is so easy to do good chips - come on surfside you could be serving the best fish and chips in hartlepool.

“Bank Holiday chaos”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

I took my family to the seaside on bank holiday Monday and wanted the obligatory fish and chips. Thought we would be better off sitting in the restaurant as queues for take away were a mile long. We went in and were seated fairly quickly, gave our order and then waited 45 minutes to be served. My granddaughter who is six was very well behaved but nothing was provided to keep her entertained, colouring etc.Apparently they only have one range for both restaurant and take away. When the food came it came with out bread and butter as stated on the menu,we had only been given three sets of cutlery not four, we had to order more drinks as we had finished those given when we had placed our order, tea was cold by then. The staff were anything but friendly and a smile must cost extra. The fish and chips when we got them were lovely and we really enjoyed them. Bad planning and organisation by the kitchen, bad service, but good food. Moral of story, go when quiet but never on a Bank Holiday.

“Expanded menu and opening times were a fantastic surprise.”
Reviewed 23 March 2014 via mobile

This is our favourite for fish and chips, coffee and cake and ice cream - eat in or takeaway. So when we decided to try the expanded evening menu we were over the moon that the choice, food and prices were all fantastic.
The specials were platters of tasters of meat, fish or pies, different but interesting. The seafood part of the menu had a large choice, but so did the non- seafood section. Loads to choose from, everything was good, including of course the fish and chips. Desserts and ice cream were lush. Portions, price and service all more than met expectations. There was also a limited 2/3 course menu for a fixed price.
