Good food, well, the fish & chips is anyway, and that's all I've had there in many visits over the years. It's not so good you'd walk over hot coals to get there, but it's good. Price is good given the quality and portion sizes (large). Watch your head on the very low doorway, it's got me more times than I care to remember.
The current owners inherited a fantastic reputation, and that will no doubt remain for many years, but that's the past, and they could never earn such a reputation with the place as it is now. Poor, slow service from surly staff on the restaurant side in contrast to the takeaway side who are bright, friendly and efficient. You would never guess they were two sides of the same establishment.
Enjoy the food, it's what you went for, just let the rest slide and try not to let it spoil your experience.

We visit The Almighty Cod regularly, the girls are always helpful and polite. Food is always piping hot and delicious, tea is also very tasty.

I visit here often food is lovely always the same with the service though staff not attentive at all and not very pleasant in the restaurant (they're fine in takeaway) my parents were halfway through meal before my knife and fork came and I'd eaten my meal before my tomato sauce arrived after reminding them twice, wrong drink order as feel they are otherwise distracted and not listening to order and always feel its the same staff are always sat round the corner and you have to go looking for someone if you need anything. On another note the battered ocean sticks will always keep me coming back just a shame about the lack of customer service.

Exceptional quality fish and chip dinner, portions are very large and well with the money. Very friendly and helpful staff, and a quaint restaurant setting. Very clean setting.
