Good food, well, the fish & chips is anyway, and that's all I've had there in many visits over the years. It's not so good you'd walk over hot coals to get there, but it's good. Price is good given the quality and portion sizes (large). Watch your head on the very low doorway, it's got me more times than I care to remember.
The current owners inherited a fantastic reputation, and that will no doubt remain for many years, but that's the past, and they could never earn such a reputation with the place as it is now. Poor, slow service from surly staff on the restaurant side in contrast to the takeaway side who are bright, friendly and efficient. You would never guess they were two sides of the same establishment.
Enjoy the food, it's what you went for, just let the rest slide and try not to let it spoil your experience.
