Excellent customer service and standards of cleanliness in hotel and restaurant.,would recommend this hotel. But take your own pillows as they are new and very hard. Hotel has perfect views of the marina and very good site for town centre.

We have just returned from an excellent week based in this Premier Inn. We had been informed by email of the renovation works which makes me surprised to see a recent review from a lady saying she hadn't heard before hand. The works were contained well and apart from reduced the parking slots, didn't interrupt our stay. Our room was excellent, bathroom gleaming and the bed sublime! A fan was provide and welcome as the nights were hot and the gulls were very loud in the early hours if the windows were open.Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Looking out at the marina in the mornings was great but when walking around on the first night, we discovered it's best viewed from a distance. The prolific high weeds, rusty railings, litter and missing paving slabs gave the place an air of neglect. Shame on the council presenting it's prestigious investment in such a poor state in holiday season! However, this didn't spoil our time as we had a week of glorious weather to explore further afield with a comfortable base to return to. A real highlight was a celebratory meal in Krimo's at the marina, it was superb and well worth a visit! Thanks and well done to all the staff at reception and the housekeeping team for giving us a memorable stay! Five stars plus for the room :)

Room Tip: There is no lift but the views are good from the first floor..

Ours was a spur-of-the moment decision to have a couple of nights "off" so to speak before the rigours of a family break further north. It's a good job we opted for two nights rather than one so we could get a full day at the historic quay. It's increasingly difficult to write constructively about a Premier Inn; they are very similar, only the locations distinguishing them. If Hartlepool Marina is different, it's the excellent position, friendliness of the staff, care taken to explain the upgrading, which wasn't a problem. Some might be put off by the presence of the locals fishing off the harbour wall but once the upgrade is finished, it won't be necessary for guests to use the "back door" and there is no lift so we asked for a ground floor room at the outset. This is a place to savour rather than pass through and we may well go back to visit some of the other attractions we didn't have time for.

Room Tip: View of the Trincomalee a must.

Work being carried out meant it was like a obstacle course to get to my room. Messy and dusty. Not happy at all with the price I paid or that there was zero warnings about the work being carried out!!

This was a wonderful find as somewhere to stay on a very short break touring the North East and a worthy destination in itself.
Much may depend on exactly which room you get but all rooms should have at least pleasant views which are much better than the average Premier Inn location. Most will be looking out over the marina or the tall ship HMS Trincomalee, and it makes for a very pleasant evening stroll. Usually the window opening restriction doesn't matter but in this location it would be nice to have them opening properly.
The top floor seemed to have been entirely refurbished in contemporary style (ie dark wood and shades of brown and beige with striped carpeting) Downstairs was being done during our stay but we didn't hear any noise from that except passing through that area.
It was a very long walk indeed to our rooms and could be a problem for some depending on luggage, small children or disabilities - there appeared to be only one access point which no doubt helps with security.
We missed the usual large display of local information leaflets which we'd been rather banking on for planning the next day.
One of our rooms smelled very strongly of smoke, which should have been noticed by the housekeeping staff and taken out of commission. However, we were swiftly reallocated and the new room was larger (how do you get these rooms?) There was room to do my yoga. Fans were provided due to hot weather and were welcome. The ventilation in the bathrooms was much better set up than before and the new lighting is good. Bathrooms need toilet brushes. One of our rooms had no coffee provided and not enough milk. (Am sure that would have been sorted if we'd raised it) The water is unpleasant to drink.
The breakfast was excellent as usual for Premier Inn. A few small niggles - we asked about the new Quorn sausages on arrival and this was confirmed so we ordered and were later told they'd run out. The coffee set up wasn't good - it was a fancy machine but ran out of milk, wasn't straightforward to use and the old system gave better coffee and usually with skimmed milk available. Some of the restocking wasn't as prompt as it might have been - it was ironic to have to listen to one member of staff fussing about precisely where each type of baked goods should be placed when they'd failed to notice that the croissants had run out.
But these are all minor niggles - the bottom line is that this Premier Inn offers more than just somewhere to rest and sleep, a cut above!

premier inn hartlepool was excellent. There was noise from seagulls because they are nesting. at this time of year. The noise started at 02.30am. There are plenty of walks in the area, plenty of eating places in the area and short distances.

Room Tip: would be better when the seagulls are not nesting.
