“Three nights in the Marine hotel”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

We checked in on friday unbeknown to us its disco night if you plan to sleep before 10:30 forget it
Most of the guests are working people who have very early starts in the morning and do not appreciate rock music.... Also there does not seem to be a single screw in any floorboard in the entire hotel, it sounds like a heard of wildebeest are grazing in the room above, my work colleges also commented on the incessant creaking I have stayed in most of the rooms on the ground floor they are all have the same level of noise
The rooms are clean and pleasant but the tiles in on my bathroom floor could do with grouting
Same of the staff do manage to say good morning or hello the rest are indifferent or pretend your not there
The food I have eaten on previous visits, its just pub grub frozen then fried.

Room Tip: Bring some ear plugs and give the staff so wood screws for the floor boards

Just stayed at the Marine Hotel, Seaton Carew for 2 nights en-route to Scotland. The hotel is right on the sea front with un-interrupted views over the water. We had a family room, the marine suite, which was more than big enough for 2 adults and 2 young teenagers. The room was basically clean and tidy, a little out-dated but incredibly good value for money. Perhaps the hotel could invest in some black out blinds though as at 5.30 when the sun rose, we were woken by the light levels in the room..........not a problem if your a heavy sleeper but a bit annoying if your not! Breakfast the next morning was very good, fruit/cereal/yoghurt/toast and selection of juices and then full english fry up if you could fit any more in!! All the staff were lovely and friendly and would recommend this hotel if you can overlook the fact it is a wee bit dated.

Room Tip: Sea front rooms are east facing so you get the sun from first thing in the morning.

We stayed here for a weekend break, i was pleasantly surprised when we were shown our bedroom (Capatin Cook suite) the room is over 2 floors with lovely seafront views. Plenty of living space, which is great when travelling with kids! Very clean room with modern decor. Sadly the breakfast was really not worth getting up for, everything was very over cooked and tasted very bland. We chose to eat out on the second morning! We also stayed at the hotel for dinner, hoping evening meals would be better than breakfast, this was not the case! I had prawn cocktail, the prawns were "off" i could smell them the minute they were sat infront of me, so how a Chef could prepare them without noticing the smell is beyond me! As for the rest of the food...it was ok, again very bland, we all agreed our food tasted of nothing! Such a shame, as the menu sounds so promising, and food was the only let down of our stay. Staff are all very friendly, and our children were made very welcome. We would stay again, but would dine out!

The Marine is a nice hotel which do your average pub grub meals. The food is served relatively warm and is plentiful for the money you pay. The staff are very warm and welcoming and see to it that your food is of the standard you expect, if not the will always exchange or give you a refund. I enjoyed the lunchdand for what it costs I would not expect anything better. I will definitely return there because it is good value for money and even better when you gave Groupon vouchers. The only negative is that it is such a large dining area there is very little atmosphere, but hey who cares when you get good value for your money.

We stayed for one night and the room was a suite. On two floors with a double bed on ground floor and single and bathroom on top floor. The room for value for money is excellent. However on arrival I was offered a wake up call and choice of complimentary paper. The paper was never seen or discuss again. If you are not going to give it don't offer. It only became an issue as it was offered.
The web site also states SKY in rooms. This is free view and doesn't have BBC channels.

The staff are friendly and the bar is warm and spacious with a good standard of pub grub.

The morning breakfast was quick and cooked to order. the coffee however!!!

Overall a pleasant surprise and the base to be a proper little gem in Hartlepool.

Room Tip: Go for a suite.

We were booked into the Marine Hotel for 2 nights in early June. I had been there before, 4 years ago, but didn't recognise it because it was covered in scaffolding! The receptionist made no apology but insisted that we pay up front, offering no discount. Our big room would have been beautiful had it not been for the filthy, dusty windows obscuring our view of the sea - and the scaffolding! So make sure that the repainting is finished before you book!!

Room Tip: The Cleveland Suite is a corner room on the 2nd floor, en suite, with sofa, TV, tea facs., view of s...

Cashed in a "Groupon" voucher for a carvery for two people. Made very welcome by the waitress. Had a bowl of soup to start with [OK] then had a reasonable carvery with three meats and a good selection of veg. Not too much of an atmosphere as we were the only only ones in the restaurant!! The floor could have done with a hoover - tinsle etc still left from a previous event!!
