Nice clean and comfortable guest house. Centrally located, close to the sea front and a good base for exploring the area. Lovely big ensuite room, tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed and flat screen TV. Good selection for breakfast and tasty full English! Would highly recommend.

I recently stayed here with my partner for a bit of recuperation after an operation. The hosts were very accommodating changing our room to a ground floor with walk in shower. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent - spacious and clean with very comfortable beds. Breakfast was cooked to your specification and again nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was very relaxed - perfect when not feeling great.
If you intend to stay anywhere near Seaton Carew Altonlea is a must. Strongly recommended and will return very soon.

I recently stayed at Altonlea Lodge and found it to be a very relaxed homely atmosphere. The interior of my room was well decorated and very clean.
I found the hosts to be accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
I would strongly recommend staying here to all my family and friends.
Thanks for the great week you made my time in the north east a memorable one :)

I booked this guest house for 3 nights on behalf of family who were visiting from Scotland. They could not praise it highly enough. Spacious and comfortable rooms, impeccable cleanliness, and a lovely and generous breakfast. Location is superb, just by the promenade and beach, yet set back just far enough to avoid noise from the road. Really good value, with booking online available. Highly recommended.

We stayed three nights at the Altonlea and couldn't have been more pleased with our visit. The room was fresh, well appointed and immaculately clean. We had a 1st floor room with a large sliding door onto the courtyard which let in a nice breeze. I had requested a box of chocolates for my wife, as we were mid way through our England vacation, and thought the chocolates would surprise her. Awaiting us was a HUGE box of excellent quality assorted chocolates. It was perfect! Lea was the perfect host. Even though we had a first floor room, Lea insisted on handling our luggage from the car to the room, and when we departed from the room to our car. Attentive, but never intrusive. He helped us plan the best way to visit Hadrian's wall, the North York Moors National Park, and to find the market, a bakery and a butcher shop. His breakfasts were outstanding, including the only B&B where we were offered blood pudding with HP sauce. YUM! The "Mr. Holst's porridge" was SUPERB! Lea told us he made a mistake with our room assignment, and said we were supposed to get a sea view room and offered to move us. We were quite content with our room, and declined moving. So he gave us the box of chocolates for free! What a honest and caring host! We would strongly recommend to the Altonlea to anyone staying in the Hartlepool area.
