Not sure if the good reviews refer to the restaurant in the first place (which we didn't eat at). But as far as our room is concerned, I've stayed at much more enjoyable places within the same price range. Our room was tiny (not small) and there were no extras but a noisy train (which nobody had mentioned) and the noisy fan from the restaurant's kitchen which also brought in a fishy smell. Welcome wasn't very warm, but that might have been due to the fact that we arrived during the restaurant's service time (6 p.m. doesn't seem to be such an unusual check-in time, though). Another detail: Wifi didn't work when we arrived. No free parking.

We have just returned from another visit to Aberdovey and a stay at our favourite place - Seabreeze. We were blessed with good weather which does make a difference but in the past and what ever the weather Linda and Ian have always been great hosts. We stayed this time in room 3 which has great views over the estuary. We ate both nights at Seabreeze and the food as well as the staff were excellent - Ian excels at front of house and really enjoys the role. Aberdovey and Seabreeze is a British holiday resort at it's best.

We, family of 4, parents and 2 daughters 16 & 22, stayed 9 nights at the Seabreeze.

After a warm welcome we occupied the 2 rooms. Both great with beautiful seaview.

In the evening we discovered the restaurant. Absolute top. Great fish, try the catch of the day!, good drinks and very reasonably priced.

Ian & Linda and their team do a great job.

Room Tip: Ask which rooms are available. Room 3, at the first floor is cosy, light and offers a great view on...

We have even here quite a few times and always loved it, however, last nights meal completely surpassed all our expectations. I usually order fish, my husband is not as keen a fish eater, usually preferring meat dishes. However, Last night we had the scallops, lobster, mussels and lemon sole. It was all absolutely spectacular. Lovely fresh fish, all cooked to perfection and, as always, impeccable service and ambience. One of our favourite places to visit, a real treat to go if you happen to be in lovely Aberdyfi.

My wife and I stayed two nights, eating in the restaurant on the second night. Although prices for the room and restaurant were about average for the area, I expected better considering the reviews they have had.

The first thing we noticed almost as soon as we entered the room was the dirt on the outside of the window, clearly it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Come the evening, one of the bedside lamps did not work (it wasn't just the bulb, I checked). The real shock came when we went to bed, all four pillows (double bed) were those nasty hollow fibre pillows, not a feather pillow in the place (I asked).

Wherever I've stayed before, from hotels to B&B's, I've always found both type of pillows provided, or at least available, the patrons of those other establishments no doubt aware that guests have different preferences for something so important. As a result we had two uncomfortable nights.

In the restaurant my wife had the lamb which was excellent in every way, but my half lobster was small, undercooked and virtually cold, so I had no choice but to send it back, though when the staff returned it, it was warm and now cooked - how can a seaside chef get that wrong? Amazing! The rule is of course, if you have to send food back, it's a fail on the part of the restaurant, so I cannot recommend them.

Suggestions to the patron? keep a few feather pillows in stock, employ a window cleaner and check everything in the rooms works as it should.

We stayed at the Seabreeze for one night immediately following our wedding day. The lady who checked us in knew we were literally newlyweds and offered her congratulations before giving us our keys, which was a pleasant surprise. We were given room 3, which was on the first floor. The room was big, clean and nicely decorated. My husband loved the cafetiere and fresh ground coffee available but I was slightly disappointed at the lack of hot chocolate. Shower room was nicely proportioned and the bed was comfy and roomy. Noticed it was two singles pushed together but we didn't mind. We ate at the restaurant and was forever cooing over the food. They give you an espresso cup of tomato soup at the beginning, which got our tastebuds tingling and ready for our starter course. It was a nice start to a lovely meal. During breakfast the next day, they didn't have my first choice but the smoked haddock more than made up for it. The hubby thoroughly enjoyed his full Welsh breakfast. Coffee was fresh and plentiful, so were the toast and local jams available. Nothing was too much trouble as when we mentioned we were in need of bait, we were given some hake offcuts for free to enable us to enjoy a spot of crabbing. The weather was horrendous but to know we had a warm, comfortable room was the highlight of our short trip to Wales. Am looking forward to coming back to the Seabreeze!

Room Tip: Rooms vary in size, and alas, price, so choose your room depending on your budget but you won't...
