We visited The Penhelig Arms for a pre booked meal for 2 last night. The food was excellent with our mains of lamb and calves liver hitting the spot. After the mains it all went downhill. Dessert orders wern't taken for 30 mins and then 30 mins later hadn't arrived and on investigation no one admitted to taking the order and when the culprit was tracked down they had no Crème Brulee left. Management refused to come and apologise leaving the poor waitress who was innocent in this and on her first night to take the flack. We paid for our meals and to be fair they knocked the wine off the bill without being asked - That isn't the point as we wanted a good experience.
So seemingly a rudder less ship with no one in charge and whilst travelling back on the train we got speaking to 7 ladies who had also visited Penhelig that evening. They had eaten in the bar and also spoke of very poor service.
A once very good establishment seemingly now on a downward spiral.
