This is an extremely comfortable, friendly and well run guest house. The accommodation is excellent, spacious with great views and quite peaceful. Lovely breakfast, easy access to beach, plenty of parking and really helpful and thoughtful owners. We would recommend this highly and will hope to return!!

Originally booked in for 2 nights after a tour of North Wales having stayed in 3 previous bed and breakfasts - all excellent. Have to say that, although booked for 2 nights, we extended our stay to 3 nights as everything was so perfect at Cartref, breakfast , room, our friendly hosts and the surrounding area. Linda and Mike we wish you well in your new venture - you deserve success.

Room Tip: We had room 1 at the front of the house, excellent facilities.

We stayed at Cartref Guest House in early April when we visited Aberdovey (and Wales) for the first time. Our welcome was incredibly warm, and I felt as though I had already known Linda for ages, having just emailed with her before our arrival. Mike is just as friendly and they both are perfect hosts. We were treated to tea and fruit bread in the very pleasant guest living room on arrival, and had a wonderful visit with Linda and Mike, who gave us lots of good ideas on the area and things to do there. Linda had made reservations for us for dinner at two local restaurants, both an enormous success. Cartref is within an easy walking distance of the main part of town, and is just across the road from the access drive to the train station. At Mike's suggestion we spent a day taking the train up the coast to Harlech Castle (and back), which was incredible...the train ride was a great way to see the coast, and the castle was breathtaking.
Our room was large, immaculate, and extremely comfortable. The en suite was very new and clean and well appointed. Breakfast was delicious, ample, and the menu was very flexible. Any special requests we had made with our reservation were very pleasantly met. By the second day we had gotten to know the other guests in the very attractive breakfast room, and were sorry when it was time to leave. We wished we had planned more time for Cartref and Aberdovey! Obviously we heartily recommend Cartref and Linda and Mike as an excellent place to stay in Aberdovey. We look forward to visiting there again!

Room Tip: I expect all the rooms are comfortable. Ours had a king-sized bed, which was very nice.

Stayed for one night over the Easter break. Lovely warm welcome as soon as we arrived - with the offer of drinks and yummy chocolate biscuits or shortbread. Linda was a breath of fresh air, knowledgable of the area and full of enthusiasm for this lovely seaside town.

I have been coming to Aberdovey since I was a child and have to say that this visit was by far one of the best. Even our two children were quietly impressed. Especially as we had WIFI, a must for any teenager! The rooms were immaculate, beds comfy and warm and the shower powerful and hot.

Breakfast was plentiful and delicious setting us up for the day ahead. Try Pharoahs Cellar Bar for a delicious meal, varied menu and something for everyone.

I would, and have already, recommended Cartref Guest House - Linda and Mikes B & B to friends and family. We will definitely be back.

We had a short break over Easter 2013 at the Cartref Guest House and had a lovely time there. Can't fault it!! Mike and Linda have recently taken over the guest house and really looked after us well making us feel welcome throughout. Linda emailed details of a couple of restaurants in Aberdovey a couple of weeks before we had arrived as she suggested we should book in advance over the busy Easter period, this was invaluable and we were able to book into the Seabreeze Restaurant where we had a lovely meal. Our room was spotless with a very comfy kingsize bed and we slept well each night. There's also a lounge available for use by guests. Breakfast was great with a good cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, toast and endless cups of tea and coffee! Set us up well for our days of walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside and the beach which is just a few hundred yards away. The house is a short walk away from Aberdovey centre and free parking in the drive is very convenient too.

Thoroughly recommended!

A family wedding in June 2012 in Pennal brought us to this part of Wales. I researched many places to stay before deciding on Cartref - mainly because it has king-size beds! My husband is 6'2" and we don't get a good night's sleep in the usual size beds found in most B&B's, or even hotels for that matter. We were very happy with my choice. Our daughters were in the room next to ours, which was a little more compact, but we didn't spend much time in the rooms anyway. The bathrooms were immaculate and the water pressure a treat! We needed flannels, which Jules promptly brought to us.

Our stay was during the deluge of June 2012 - wedding guests staying in Machynlleth had to make a long detour to get to Pennal, because of flooding. Will and Jules were waiting for us when we got back from the wedding to ask us how the wedding had gone and how we had got on with the road conditions. Jules took and washed my daughter's jacket, the sleeve of which she had somehow dipped into a red wine sauce from a lamb shank. Definitely above and beyond. The breakfasts were first-class - delicious local food, well prepared and copious portions. While Will wasn't serving he stayed and chatted, giving advice on things to do, places to go etc. What a wonderful, welcoming family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cartref Guest House to anybody and everybody, and if we ever find ourselves in the area again, would love to let Jules and Will spoil us with their hospitality again!

Room Tip: I can't remember the room number, but the king-size room on the first floor was wonderful!
