We enjoyed our meal but were quite surprised by the prices, especially as the mains didn't come with any sides, which had to be bought separately.

Four of us were staying in Aberdovey for a golfing trip and, though we usually eat somewhere different each evening, on this occasion we ate here twice; it was that good! The menu is interesting with a good choice of starters, mains and desserts; a quite good selection of wines and the service was very good. Thank you.

Management and staff went out of their way to accommodate our family even though they were very busy and we hadn't booked. Food was really tasty and even the children loved the meal. You have to try the death by chocolate.....it's huge so make sure you share between 3!

We have never tried this basement restaurant on the visits we have made to Aberdyfi (dovey) during the last four years of our visits, but have heard good reports. We took the plunge and booked a table last night. We were greeted professionally by the restaurant manageress (we assume) and offered a choice of tables, being early arrivers. The whole place is an 'Aladdin's Cave of ornaments and unusual features, and the music played varied from Michael Buble to older forms of jazz which gave the place a great atmosphere. An offer of drinks was efficiently followed by our dinner menus and wine list, shortly followed by delivery of our aperitifs. When our cutlery arrived it was immaculate, not the usual smudgy ones so often presented in the majority of pubs and restaurants, which was aided by the waitress wearing white gloves, similarly for serving our plates of food. I had a seafood pancake, and my wife had a cheese and spinach pancake. For mains we chose the half roast duck a l'orange and I tried the quirkily titled Zrazy Nelson, which were medallions of fillet steak in a very imaginative sauce which included kummel, a caraway seed liqueur, all topped with battered onion rings. Everything was very well presented and delicious. The wine list is not long, but thoughtfully chosen, the ones we chose were a good quality. All the staff were very pleasant and efficient, and the chef very willing to talk with us about our chosen food and his restaurant experience. Overall, a very enjoyable evening and this is a restaurant well worth a visit, and we will return here on our next visit to Aberdyfi (Aberdovey)

We arrived without booking - my husband and myself with my son and his family, 6 in all. We were welcomed, children accommodated with colouring books and crayons. We chose from a wide menu, everything was cooked while we waited. The food was lovely and enjoyed by us all. My son and family ended with Death by Chocolate which was big enough for 4! We would certainly go back next time we visit.
