Stayed 5 nights from May 18th. Top floor room. Excellent service. Quality breakfast and dinner, lots of choice and good ingredients. Go for sea-view if you can. Plenty to do around the hotel. Couple of areas for improvement: another lift, or a larger lift, is needed; not everyone can cope with highly perfumed lilies all about. I cannot take the smell. However, excellent place. Thank you to all staff and Cave Family.

We have been coming to the Trefeddian for over 10 years now. It is a traditional family-run hotel - not perfect in every way but all the staff are friendly and attentive. We have just returned home from a 3-day weekend break. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and the helpings were not too big. The rooms vary in size and presentation and there are plumbing noises in some but the bed was comfortable and there is no traffic noise. The new swimming pool and jacuzzi are first class. It is so nice to be pampered with sea views and plenty of walking nearby - we walked up Cader Idris on Saturday. For fresh air and exercise, good food and drink and service - thoroughly recommended.

I took two friends for afternoon tea yesterday who were staying with me from New Zealand.
We sat on the lawn overlooking the sea and all said what a fabulous place to be!

I had homemade scones with cream and Jam and my friends had the BaraBrith and Welshcakes as they had not eaten them before.
The sun was shining which always helps.
The lawns had just been cut by the gardener and the smell of mown grass was lovely .

There are plenty of loungers on the lower sitting areas ,felt like we were on holiday abroad !

Definitely recommend it on a sunny day!

Our room was spotlessly clean but it was dated - not like the the website at all. We chose a superior sea view room that was large but needed refurbishing. The management sorted this issue to our satisfaction. The food was good and certainly served quickly sometimes too quickly - it seemed as if their goal at each service was to clear and prepare for the next meal. All the the staff were friendly and attentive but the atmosphere in the hotel is quiet and lacks atmosphere. The majority of the clientele were elderly so if you are looking for peace and quiet and a really traditional hotel experience this is the place for you.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms were excellent - check to see if a balcony is available

A warm welcome and a lovely looking place, the first room we were shown was small and smelled musty, we asked to swap, not a problem. The second room was far larger but felt tired, not great.
On waking the next morning we were surprised to hear a lot of commotion outside the room, thinking something was wrong I went to investigate, it turns out at the top of the stairs to the first floor was where the cleaning staff congregate was just outside our room, really this should be moved to a more private rest area, very unprofessional.

We didn't use the restaurant that night as we like to eat in the town, so our first experience was for breakfast, great plenty of room and tables by the large windows overlooking the sea, there was no one there to greet us so we chose a table by the window, what's this? They are all reserved! Funny, we weren't asked if we would like to reserve one! We were shown to a table at the back of the room right next to the busy door to the kitchen!! Not the quiet restful breakfast I like to enjoy.

All the staff were very welcoming and helpful, if a little quirky, characterful one might say, but friendly.

Room Tip: Sea view or don't bother

My wife and I booked a few days break at the Trefeddian Hotel we received a email with photos of the new swimming pool and we both thought it looked fabulous so decided to book. We were not disappointed; the new pool looked modern, with a sea side feel to it but contemporary. The addition of the Jacuzzi really makes it a lovely occasion.

On top of that the food was lovely, staff very friendly and welcoming. All in all a faultless stay with lovely weather. Highly recommended !

Perched on a hillside with fabulous views overlooking Aberdyfi Golf Course and Cardigan Bay, this is the perfect hotel for a UK holiday.

We stayed last week for 5 nights with 3 children aged 7, 9 and 10 and they loved it.

The highlight for us was the newly refurbished indoor swimming pool. When we last stayed 4 years ago, the pool was functional at best but it is now a true leisure pool.

There was also a games room with table tennis, air hockey and pool.

Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice for dinner in the evenings. Our children all ate with us but there is a children's tea at 5.30pm for younger children.

Family room for the 5 of us was very spacious and lovely views of the rabbits on the hillside behind and the estuary to the side.

All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel.
