“Rules and A Few Problems”
Reviewed 20 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

It was a great stay overall thanks to the chance to spend time with extended family away from our normal hectic schedules. It was slightly impaired by some plumbing issues that plagued the entire three nights stay. These things happen but the list of rules suggests this is more a family home than a rental. Be prepared to respect this, do this and that if you do stay.

The view is compensation enough though and the cottage has been thoughtfully restored and is of a very high standard. Losing water for a while was a hinderance as was having a shower that stopped mid wash leaving me with a beard full of conditioner! Yes, I condition my beard, one of those vanity things I've developed as I get older! Washing it out with the oh so very cold spring water (delicious in a glass but not so good when you've had a rubbishy shower) was not the high point!

Difficult to say if we'd return, I'd certainly love to own such a house and live there despite it's remoteness and lack of communications. Overall I'd say we were just unlucky and if the rules were relaxed just a little it'd be perfect.

We really are very sorry that you had plumbing issues during your stay. It’s a nightmare in your own house let alone when you are trying to have a relaxing break. We did everything in our power to resolve this, having a plumber turn up early the morning after you raised the issue of a leak. Unfortunately whilst fixing the leak in the upstairs radiator, the plumber caused an air lock and had to return. And there is nothing worse than a mid shower lack of water! But you didn't let us know that the upstairs shower wasn't working until the last day of your holiday. We can only apologise for this and the airlost has now been fixed. Unfortunately as with any house, old or new, these things do happen so thank you for your understanding.

We are a little more worried by your feedback on the “rules”. We do have a couple of basics like no dogs upstairs, kept off furniture and no smoking in the house. But we had hoped it was pretty much rule free. It is a family home in that we have kept much of the original furniture that my parents have collected over the years and haven’t filled it with cheap “rental” furniture. And all we try and ask is that people respect the house and look after it whilst there. But we certainly don’t want this to stop anyone’s enjoyment. Whilst we do use it ourselves whenever we can, we have renovated it in a way that we hoped guests would like and be able to enjoy, with many home comforts, everything that you might need and also a few luxuries (but none of the clutter that many family homes tend to fill up with over time!)

We would really appreciate it if you could make the time to e-mail us back and explain a little further so that we can re-word anything that was coming across in the wrong way. It is very important to us that guests enjoy their stay and will try to rectify anything that we can to ensure future guests have a great holiday.

“Exceptional cottage in wonderful location”
Reviewed 30 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

We booked this cottage over xmas for three generations of our family and it was wonderful and even better than expected. The owners went to so much trouble to ensure that everything was perfect, from the food left to the xmas tree and beautiful decorations set up for when we arrived. The cottage is so special as everything you need is provided and exceptionally decorated. We found it difficult to leave despite the wonderful walks in the area and sat in the eat-in kitchen and cooked
and relaxed or gathered in the lounge by the wood fire. Beautifully renovated and comfortable...I will recommend to all my friends without hesitation.

What a beautiful cottage Glan-y-morfa is, it really felt so homely and warm, it has everything you could possibly need, the views are outstanding and the location is perfect for exploring the surrounding areas. I can highly recommend this place, and I hope to return again sometime in the future. Big thumbs up!!!!

“the best places we've ever rented !”
Reviewed 18 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

property was fantastic for our mixed group of 7, the beds were really comfortable with really lovely linen provided. the equipment in the kitchen was just right for cooking family meals (our daughter made fairy cakes and all that was missing were bun trays but she still managed)
the property was very clean with no evidence of other dogs and the utility room was perfect for decamping all our beach stuff, boots, coats, etc.
the two bath/shower rooms were clean and had excellent showers with pleanty of hot water.
lovely solid furniture and comfy sofas. the garden was just right for our needs and kept our rescue collie dog cotained from all the sheep who were right up to the fence on occasion!
the location couldn't be bettered (unless it had its own private beach!) and the access track way with all the gates to open and close made it all the more exciting for the children.
spectacular views across the estury towards the osprey nests meant a glass of wine as the sun went down was very easy to enjoy.
the surrounding area was great for what we wanted and the beach at penrin point was amazing, we wanted to spend alll our time here - you can take your vehicle onto the sand and the tide goes out a long way, quite safe for kids and dogs are allowed on the beach too.
a most welcome gift from the owners was waiting for us on our arrival, a bottle of wine along with some bread and milk, a little touch, but it meant a lot.
a great place to stay with something for everyone, we will definatly consider returning with friends.

“Estuary, wetlands and mountains - great location”
Reviewed 16 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Glan y Morfa is tucked into a hillside overlooking the Dfyi Estuary and within easy reach of Aberdovey's seaside attractions. For anyone seeking solitude and serenity, wonderful woodland, estuary and moorland walks, marvellous birdwatching from the garden and short distance to Ynys Hir RSPB Reserve, this is the place and is unique. The cottage is delightful with all modern facilities yet retains the traditional character of a Welsh farmhouse. Having sampled the delights of a Spring break we are hoping to return for autumn colours and wintering birds on the estuary. This is a gem!
