Had a wonderful few days at Maesywerngoch, with 13 members of family ranging from under 2 to 77. The gardens and house are amazing and the children loved playing outside. The house is peaceful and quiet and a real getaway from it all. There’s plenty of space for everyone to get together, but also spacious enough for everyone to do their own thing. A really lovely property in a wonderful location.
The location is exceptional - very isolated, but this allows for complete silence (except for a wonderful variety of birdsong!) and clear skies for stargazing. The garden is huge with plenty of space for games - cricket being our family favourite - our new Labrador puppy was in seventh heaven too! There was space around the house for little ones to bike ride and for the more adventurous, endless forest tracks for both cycling and walking. The views from the house are spectacular, although we had a couple of days of drizzle and low cloud which created a mysterious atmosphere. The house is huge with plenty of space for several families - it is very well equipped - the kitchen has a cooker and an aga which made meal times very easy; the beds are very comfy, and the bathrooms are well equipped. We would definitely recommend a stay, but possibly not if you want to keep going out in the car - it is 3 miles off the beaten track!
Snowdonia’s secret stay.....truely a secret, its up a 3 mile track to find!
So Susan sends you very detailed instructions how to find the house, and as long as you follow these to the letter you will find the house no problem. The road to the house is literally a track, with numerous potholes which i know the owners are trying desperately hard to fix. Stay in first and second gear, go slow, no low slung cars and you should be fine. One hint on the very last corner before the house, take it wide as there is a crater on the inside, go in 1st gear and do not stop until you are up the really steep bit!!!
Onto the amazing house....
Walking in to a lovely spacious living room, bright, cozy, huge sofa, then onto the dining room, again, bright, gorgeous views, lovely big table, log burner.
Kitchen has an aga, everything you could need and then onto the last sitting room, comfy sofas, sky box, log burner, lovely homely feel, enough seating for our group of 8.
Upstairs beautful bedrooms, mix of double / twin and room suitable for children (bunk bed and cot) more bathrooms than you need (i actually lost count!)
Everything is immaculately clean, the beds are lovely and comfortable and the bathrooms are spotless.
The ladies who look after the house do a superb job!
The grounds of the house are just as beautfully kept, and the views from every window are just as picturesque as you would imagine for Snowdonia.
This house is perfect to base yourself to go for long walks in the countryside, mountain biking or anything else you could imagine.
Just choose a sensible car to do the track in (my focus was fine, friends astra struggled quite a bit on the steep hill, another friends range rover didnt bat an eyelid and thought it was hilarious)
One of my friends had a small accident and slid down 2 of the stairs and we thought she may have broken her ankle (turns out she hasnt and its just a very bad sprain- yay!!) . i thought i should probably just let the owner know, and she couldnt not have been more helpful, genuinly concerned and apologetic, even though it was purely an accident!
The surrounding village has a Spa (plas talgath) you wont be disapponted if you book treatments or a spa day there either!!
If you are looking for a relaxing stay in luxury this house is the place for you. The pictures do not do the location & the property justice. I cannot recommend this house enough, we had 7 children with us and it was fantastic to see them enjoying their time playing, The grounds are enormous and give hours of fun. We spent the day crab fishing by the beach and had a 2 hour pony trek, we cooked most days in the house but dined out at a few places facing Abedovey Beach. The house guide is brilliant and I would recommend any places to dine that are suggested. We will definitely be returning.
The location of this house was perfect for our family Christmas gathering. It is surrounded by streams, forests and mountains but not too far from civilization, the nearest town being only 15 mins by car.
The house lived up to all our expectations. Large, Stylish, modern and clean in a traditional building, set in wonderful scenery. The gardens were lovely and we especially enjoyed watching the birds feeding from the feeder at the front of the house. We also enjoyed the many walks around there, as well as the peace and quiet, no cars and no close neighbors. We wished that we were spending more time here.
Terry, the caretaker, was fantastic . A real gem who can problem solve and who has the social and communication skills to welcome all visitors. We had a slight problem with the heating which Terry fixed in no time at all. The welcome hamper was a touch that was really appreciated. We will definitely be coming back to spend some more time in this beautiful house.
Maesywerngoch is a thoroughly relaxing and spacious home in an idyllic setting. It is secluded but all the comforts you require- space to chill, relax, socialise, snuggle and indulge. Be prepared for an adventurous road trip to get there and then gasp at the location, the quiet, the views and the garden. Keep it a secret. Even the dog has sworn not to tell. If you can drag your self away the local area offers much to see, do and eat.
We were a party of 12 friends from Germany and England and spent our yearly summer holiday together at Maesywerngoch. We also had a dog with us and he absolutely loved the spacious house and gardens.
We really enjoyed our stay at the wonderful house in a lovely location. The gardens are more like parks and you can wander off into the forest in all directions.
There are plenty of sights in the area. We went to the nice beaches at Harlech and Aberdovey. We had a nice time at Machynlleth market, went on a nice day trip to Aberystwyth, a wonderful Sunday Lunch at the Riverside Hotel and we explored the nearby footpaths in the house surroundings. Wherever we spent our days (sometimes in busy places), it always felt really nice to come back to the house and enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere
