“Great meal, great service”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

Lunch on Wednesday was a great success. The food we chose was well cooked and nicely presented. Home made lasagne was particularly good as was the side orders. The waitress was very helpful and pleasant . Nice to see Mr Wolseley looking after his customers, he even
cleared some tables! We were very impressed....
We shall go back ....

“Not bad”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

2nd time here in about 8 months and as we had a good steak the last time, we did so again. Meat not the best quality, but overall it wasn't bad for £10. Restaurant upstairs needs a bit of TLC and a damn good Hoovering and dusting, as it was far from clean on our visit. Overall, I'd go back. Service was fine, albeit you get the daft 'obligatory' NI 'have you booked?' question (followed by the also obligatory typical NI 'glance around looking for an available table in an [almost] empty restaurant' routine from the welcoming waiter on arrival. Also, if you're going to have an open kitchen, maybe the chefs could make a bit more effort at looking clean, tidy and professional?

Much has changed! We now have a stringent cleaning schedule and would love to see you back so you can see the changes we have made for the better. Our meat supply is now sourced from Mawhinneys butcher in Bangor and their quality is second to none. See you again soon!

“Get some nuts!!”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

We ate here this evening on a Grabone Voucher for the restaurant which offered a main course and a glass of wine each for £12 so our expectations were not high!

The restaurant was apparently refurbished in 2013 but our seats the had holes in the fabric. There is no atmosphere in the place at all.

The young lady who served us was very pleasant and friendly.... thereafter it snores downhill!

We decided to share a starter - Hot 'n' Spicy Sizzling PrawnsTiger Prawns marinated in a garlic and chilli oil, served in a sizzling pot with fresh bread - The pot was not sizzling, the 6 prawns were not spicy and were set on top of some soggy vegetables. The bread was the highlight here. It cost £5.50 thats almost £1 per prawn!

My husband ordered fish and chips, it was well presented, the fish was tasty but the chips were luke warm and anaemic looking!

I ordered an Asian Vegetarian, cashew nut & noodle stir fry and the option to add chicken. The chicken was the best part of it! There were very few vegetables present... onions, mange tot, red pepper and tons of red chilli all floating around in what could only be described as a soy sauce soup...... not one cashew nut to be seen!! My mouth was on fire from the chilli overload I had to stop eating.

When we went to settle our bill, the bar man made no conversation, didn't bother to ask us if we enjoyed our meal, maybe he is used to getting complaints and thought it better not to ask.

My advice to go across the road and eat in Jenny Watts.

So sorry to read his! We apologise you had such an awful eperience! The staff who were working that night are no longer with us, both the chef that was cooking that night and the bar man. We would love very much for you to return- we have new ownership, new management and a new improved customer focused drive. We're sure you can see for yourself the changes that have been made for the better. We hope to see you again soon!

“Surprisingly good!”
Reviewed 18 July 2013 via mobile

We appreciate good food in top restaurants in belfast so when we eat out in average restaurants the food is generally just ok, but in here we were really surprised at how tasty and well cooked the food is! The steaks are always cooked really well and chicken has yet to be overdone and dry like most places! Their dessert menu could be doing with a step up though- desserts are just ok, nothing fancy and nothing overally tasty. Only thing I would say tho is that we never eat in the bar downstairs as it feels grubby and dirty and sitting next to people drinking in a bar whilst eating is one of my petty peeves, we only eat in the restaurant upstairs and it doesn't seem to open too often, or at least funny times/days.
