Description: The Ava Winebar has undergone a complete refurbishment and has been transformed into a classy, elegant and on trend wine bar. We are ideally situated on the corner of Main Street opposite Bangor bus station and the post office. We are open seven days a week for lunch, tapas, dinner and drinks. The future of The Ava is an exciting one, especially with a complete reboot of the drinks menu, now knows as 'The Drink Bible' with its quirky illustrations and finishing touches. The food menu has also been revamped and expanded upon, proving that even the pickiest of eaters can find something they will enjoy. For those who are looking something a little lighter a new bar menu has been introduced which features tapas and selected wines by the glass. The newly renovated spot is also expecting a new beer garden and a re-branding of the cellar bar.

“Perfect”
Reviewed 15 September 2012

It has been a while from I have eaten I'm the Ava, the tapas we had was as usual exceptional as was the service. It was also reassuring to see management as busy on the floor as the waiting staff. Although i noticed for the first this evening that if you don't wish to order from the menu like everyone else you can bring in your own food from the chippy down the street, as the few tables back from us had done this which to say the least we found bizzare....talk about brining sandwiches to a pick nic!
This aside I would recommend the Ava any day of the week for service, quality and value for money.

“Lovely food, good value”
Reviewed 29 August 2012

We're regulars at The Ava restaurant because the standard is consistently good. The early bird special, two courses for £9.25, is excellent value (eat between 5.00pm and 6.00pm). There's a good range of dishes on offer - we had goats cheese fritters and mushrooms for starters, followed by crispy chilli chicken and chicken gougons. Generous portions, well presented and very tasty. The kid's meal was great - a huge portion of chicken and chips with chilli sauce and garlic potatoes. There's a super fish pie on the menu, plus great steaks and a very popular tapas selection. I'm not a drinker, but there's also a tremendous choice of wines. Unlike other restaurants, The Ava is responding to the recession with good value options and it's succeeding in pulling in the customers. I can also recommend breakfast/brunch there. To top it all, the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. Forget most of the other local restaurants which seem to charge a lot for very little.
