Description: The Ava Winebar has undergone a complete refurbishment and has been transformed into a classy, elegant and on trend wine bar. We are ideally situated on the corner of Main Street opposite Bangor bus station and the post office. We are open seven days a week for lunch, tapas, dinner and drinks. The future of The Ava is an exciting one, especially with a complete reboot of the drinks menu, now knows as 'The Drink Bible' with its quirky illustrations and finishing touches. The food menu has also been revamped and expanded upon, proving that even the pickiest of eaters can find something they will enjoy. For those who are looking something a little lighter a new bar menu has been introduced which features tapas and selected wines by the glass. The newly renovated spot is also expecting a new beer garden and a re-branding of the cellar bar.

Myself and my parents had a meal in your restaurant yesterday. Very pleasant experience, beautiful food, pleasant staff and excellent wheelchair access for myself. We'll be back again.

“WHAT ANOTHER BRILLIANT…..SADLY MISSED…..EVENING”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Unfortunately, with both of us having ill parents it was great to get another chance for an EB meal at the AVA… missed this place sooooo much…..brilliant food…..brilliant staff…..brilliant taste bud experience and…..brilliant value!!!
YOU JUST CAN’T BEAT THIS PLACE….

It was a worry when we arrived at reception as to whether we would get in…..cos we didn’t book …..it was packed!!!!….. but Claire, the Manager, give us another great welcome and sorted a table for us.

With the value of the place…..we were able to order several sides…..greedy again …..one of three being champ……lol, and our waitress even brought us extra butter!!!!

What a great brilliant evening.

“What a shame!”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

What a shame. We've lived in Bangor for 20 years and would eat in the Ava a number of times during the year and would take family and friends there for dinner too; we've even bought vouchers as gifts for family and friends but this is now, sadly, is something of the past. We visited tonight and it just wasn't the same. The food just ordinary! The staff just seemed as if they couldn't have cared less ~ maybe a little bit of training wouldn't go amiss. What a shame. But if you're going to vote; vote with your feet and that's what I'm doing. We will just have to find another place that we will go to regularly.

To our once a regular customer,
Thank you for your constructive criticism, It would have been greatly appreciated on the evening of your visit if you had made us aware of your concerns, there is always a member of management on each shift that if any one should have an issue with their meal or a member of staff that it can be dealt with immediately rather than it being left for us to find out about something through a review at which point it is too late to rectify the problem.
Maybe you could be so kind as to let us know exactly what makes our menu ordinary, it is regularly changed to accommodate new dishes and the favorites are always kept available. What would you normally look for yourself on a menu ?
As for the staff, we all put our heart and soul into our work to try and ensure everyone has a pleasant visit with us and everyone has everything they need, the extra warm temperature has
made this very difficult on occasions the last few weeks but all of the staff have continued to work through this regardless.
I am sure you know yourself from your frequent visits with us that all of the staff are very friendly and love to have a chat with our regular customers, and those that may just been passing through on holiday.
I do hope that you find somewhere else to enjoy as much as you have with us in the past and maybe one day you and your family will pop in to see us.
kind regards
Claire @ the ava

“Value for money and excellent service”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Where else could you get an excellent two course meal for under £10? I thought the restaurant had a great atmosphere, the food was beautifully cooked and well- presented and the waiting staff were helpful and friendly. This is a gem of a restaurant. It is so convenient to the shopping area and the train station and I will certainly visit it the next time I am in Bangor.
