“Best Breakfast in County Down”
Reviewed 14 January 2012

The breakfast at the Marine Court in Bangor is one of the best in the land. Our Men's Fellowship have Saturday morning breakfast meetings 6 or 7 times a year. We have visited many hotels in North Down and have now settled on Marine Court as our Breakfast of Choice. There is a good selection of cereals, juices etc but when the cooked breakfast arrives it is a delight. Warm plates, best thick back bacon in the land along with excellent sausages, mushrooms and tomato. Add perfectly cooked egg, soda and potato bread. Somehow 12-16 people get it all at once, all hot with as much toast and coffee as you need.

Staff and service are superb and the atmosphere is friendly. Strongly recommended. I am happy to repeat, we have tried many of the local hotels and marine court wins easily.

This hotel is a wonderful place to stay, the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the restaurant staff who had a highchair and children's menu all ready for us when we arrived for dinner. Our daughter made a mess but the staff appeared to be okay with this, it comes with the territory when dealing with a toddler. On our second evening in the restaurant the person whom appeared to be the manger allowed us to take our desert up to our room as our child was getting restless.

The room was huge and had everything we needed. They had a travel cot all set-up for us to use (I thought we would have to have done this) so handy after an hour and a halves trip.

The leisure centre was a nice bonus and one of the main reasons we stayed here. There is no Children's pool just in case you are looking for one. Be sure to have your children out of the pool by 7pm as the "adults" don't take to kindly to a very quite toddler being in there 5 mins after it's adults only time.

I liked this hotel so much I would consider it for a wedding reception as the food was delicious and the location is so handy from Belfast via train links.

Me and my partner stayed at the marine court on new years eve 11 for the gala dinner package. Not only was it excellent value for money, it was a great night out with great entertainment!

The hotel itself went above and beyond our expectations. The room was spacious, clean, up to date and comfortable. Lovely bedding and towels.

We had a buffet style meal in one of the function rooms followed by entertainment. The food was to die for and the staff provided a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. Same goes to breakfast the next day.

All in all, we wouldn't think twice about returning!

We are six ladies who stayed at the Marine Court Hotel in early December to enjoy a Christmas Pary night. The hotel itself although adequately placed looking over the marina is dated and could do with some refurbishment. Our rooms were on the second but one of the rooms developed and blocked sink and 2 members of our group had to be moved to another room. They were eventually moved to the 4th floor as a replacement room offered on the second floor had a bad smell eminating from the bathroom. Our christmas party night was very enjoyable with good food and entertainment. However at the end of the night we asked if there was a residents lounge and were told that we could move into Nelsons Bar and were advised to go upstairs to enjoy the view and finish off our drinks which we duly did. On entering the Bar we were accosted by a member of the bar/reception staff who insisted on seeing our room keys to ensure we were residents. Another staff member then came up to check again that we had room keys and to say that were must move downwstairs where they could keep an eye on us. Because of their aggressive attitude we asked to see a manager and when the manager appeared our explanation was accepted and we were allowed to finish our drinks. We tried not to let this spoil what was essentially a great stay in the Marine Court but I do think that some staff members would benefit from a refresher course in customer care.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 4th floor

Myself and 29 other friends had our Christmas Night Party in the hotel and , we all agreed it was made fabulous by the terrific food, the staff who made sure we wanted for nothing and even added that little bit extra and, brilliant value for money. The atmosphere just made our party swing and so a big thankyou to all - see you again soon. ,

My family stayed at the Marine Court while attending a Engagement Party, the staff were very pleasant and service was excellent. The leisure facilities are fantastic, my kids loved the pool. We were made to feel very welcome and the rates are very reasonable. The food was delicious, could not fault the hotel or staff at all. Highly recommeded!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Killaire Suite on Floor 3, very good sized room for a family.
