Stayed at the Marine Court Hotel over the weekend of 14th/15th July 2013.

Greeted at checkin by a lovely friendly receptionist. We booked an executive room and what a surprise, a beautiful sea/marina view room, (well worth it) with all the facilities needed for a very enjoyable stay, the bed was very comfortable too, with a good size bathroom, only comment there was a bad smell in the bathroom, possibly the drains.

We ate in the resturant in the evening and the food was excellent, thank you to all the staff especially to Rachel for your great service and helpful friendlyness, we enjoyed our meal.

We didnt get to try out the swimming pool etc which I had been told were great, not enough time, but maybe next time.

Breakfast was fantastic, very quick service, fresh and tasty, lots of toast and tea/coffee/juices, we were very impressed, one of the best we've had in a hotel, thanks again to Rachel for the great, friendly service.

The Marine Court Hotel is a lovely ideal location to stay, central to lots of places to visit and lovely walks along the marina and round the coastal path.

I would highly recommend for a night or two away, we will definitly be back.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea/marina view are worth the extra.

We stayed at the Marine Court last weekend, and used it as a base for a wedding we were attending in Lisburn. First impressions were that it was an excellent location, but was in need of a bit of TLC. We had booked an Exec room for £110 a night, and it really didn't warrant that type of outlay. The room smelt a little musty, and the bathroom smelt damp. The view was excellent, and the bed was comfortable, but we just felt a little cheated by the price for an Exec room that didn't even have a safe in it.

The staff were excellent, and were extremely attentive for the two nights we were there, and made up for the lack of value for money on the room front.

Only other slight issue we had whilst there was when having a drink in Nelson's bar (sports bar) on the Friday afternoon, and having it populated by a load of drunk locals who seemed incapable of holding a pint glass without dropping it. Despite the drinks being substantially cheaper in this bar than the main bar, would recommend paying the extra and staying in the comfort of the main hotel bar.

Nice location, and decent staff, but not great value for money.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel in June and as I had stayed there some four years ago I hoped things would still be good. And so it was from the receptionists, restaurant staff and of course the room staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was a family room and as clean as a whistle and well worth the cost. Everywhere in the hotel was just as clean even the swimming pool area. I cannot praise this hotel enough. If you are ever in Bangor you know where you will have good food and a good bed and excellent staff whom make you very welcome.

Room Tip: Paid a little extra to have a view overlooking the harbour.

From the time you enter the Marina you are made so welcome. The Staff. are very friendly and helpful.Mum will be 90 this year and the girls were great with her. We got the deal for two night bb & one evening meal the Breakfast was fantastic didn't need to eat till evening lol The evening Meal was beautiful good size portions and the staff made a big fuss of Mum which she loved. The room was big and spacious great for Mums simmer frame. The view from the window was magnificent and the bed was gigantic so comfy and good size flat screen telly very clean and comfortable room.I took Mum down to the pool which we went in through side door which meant she didn't have to go down all the stairs their again staff very friendly and helpful great sized pool for doing your lengths.Just step out the front door and the have a lovely stroll or sit with an ice-cream and take in the beautiful scenery All in all had a fantastic couple of days great value for money .

Last minute decision to visit Bangor and stay over, so was not sure what to expect. Everything was perfect. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful. The room was a reasonable size and was comfortable and clean ( I am sure the rooms with a sea view are the ones to aim for) .

We had a very very nice meal in the Restaurant and the waiting staff were amazing special mention to Billy, who obviously enjoyed his work and is an asset to the hotel. We were also very well looked after by the Restaurant Manager again a real asset to the hotel. Our Dinner was excellent and was very reasonably priced. The specials were not advertised outside alongside the usual menus which I believe is a missed marketing opportunity!

Breakfast was very good with lots of choices and nice friendly service. Leisure facilities very good and staff again very friendly, helpful and professional.

The hotel is indeed "tired" and in need of a revamp but saying this so are many many others with better ratings and a lot more costly to stay! We are in a recession !!

Bangor is a lovely place to visit , but as far as "eating out" on a Sunday Evening is concerned most of the eateries need to wake up and realise we are in a recession. We must have tried 4/6 different establishments obviously, they did not want our money as we were met with indifference / statement oh the kitchen is closing/ oh last orders have to be in in the next 5 minutes and this is at 7 30 on a hot summers evening!!!!! The rudest and most indifferent was The Salty Dog!!!!!!

Yes we would stay again and hopefully not at the last minute so we could have a room with a sea view.

Bangor is to be commended on its "FREE PARKING AVAILABILITY A REAL BONUS !

Room Tip: Sea View is the option to go for

I confess that I visit this hotel often due to business, nevertheless from the 1st visit some 3 years ago until now, and I visit about 6 or 7 times a year, fortunately some things never change, a good and excellent welcome. The reception, gymnasium and housekeeping staffs do make a difference for what at times the property may let you down from an eye pleasing and good hospitality experience perspectives. Nevertheless I found it to be very clean and well maintained overall. We have to take into consideration that it is a large property and up keeping this size of property comes at a price, if at the same time the room prices are to be competitive in order to maintain profitability and value for money. Could it do with a revamp? Of course! Who wouldn’t like to revamp this beautiful property!? Nevertheless, the executive rooms and suites are of good size, very well furnished, most bathrooms are good and some may need some or little TLC. Prices are extremely reasonable for its location and facilities. Good hospitality experiences are something that we all enjoy and expect to be of a good standard for our hard earned monies, although some of these experiences can only be as good as the people behind running the ship. The let down here are some of the restaurant staff and the variety of food, as much at breakfast than at dinner. You can have a nice basket of fresh, shiny and juicy apples and fresh fruit, but you need to ensure that there are no rotten pieces in the basket, as this endangers what it could be a brilliant and tasteful experience. When I book into hotels and regardless of their price, stars or forks, I would like to be looked after and ensure that I will always remember them for the right reasons. Personally my priorities have become swimming before and after work, rather that being fed by some sergeants who I don’t appreciate first thing in the morning or early evening. All to be said, not all the restaurant staff fall under the same description! Some are superbly well mannered and attentive. Putting these inexperienced and wrongly managed creatures aside (sorry, but is the truth), I can’t leave unmentioned the bar staff who compensates for it, they are very good. If you carry with you a rotten apple detector and some expertise in how to ignore it, your stay at The Marine Court Hotel will be unforgettable. As a whole they deserve 10 out of 10. Oh! To the designer of the custom jewellery exhibiting and selling at the reception, would you be so nice as to do something for us men? Thank you. Please don’t stop creating! You’re brilliant. I do buy things regularly from your display as presents!

Room Tip: Trust the reception and the reservation staff. Tell them what you expect and what you need. They rea...
