“A real treat!”
Reviewed 19 June 2012

We recently learned that it was possible for non residents to have breakfast in the lodge and booked ourselves in with our friends, the Hammies. I am known as the fussy one of the foursome and the jokes beforehand were would it satisfy me. Well, it more than satisfied - the breakfast was excellent! There was lots of attention to detail - from the toasted seeds for the delicious porridge to the delightful selection of toasted breads. The service was second to none and we all left feeling we'd had a real treat. Oh, nearly forgot to mention, what a setting! Sit back and soak it in!

Initially we were invited by friends from Bangor to stay with them, but as my brother & family wanted to join us our friends volunteered to to find accommodation for all of us.
Upon arrival we were welcomed by the owners and when we saw our rooms we were simply overwhelmed.
Breakfast was more than perfect and my sister in law said " I am afraid, the accommodation can only get worse" and it did at the other premises we booked along our tour through the North.( although not bad either)
We are certainly going to come back as it is a good place for jogging along the coast and the Titanic exhibition is close by.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing the sea - it is quiet and you can hear the rolling ocean

My wife and I decided to stay at the last minute and we were very impressed. The rooms and general decor are lively, the owners were friendly and helpful. It was a top experience and the breakfast was particularly great

We have stayed here for our last 2 visits both as a couple and as a family. Both have been perfect. We can't recommend it high enough and it will be our first choice on every future trip.

A fantastic place to stay. Excellent standard throughout. We stayed for a week and had a brilliant time. This is a very special, large, high quality house with a relaxing atmosphere. A peaceful and quiet house in a perfect location with great views of the sea. The room and en suite was spacious and the bed was amazing, like sleeping on a cloud, a great nights sleep.
The breakfast was amazing, fantastic varity with the best quality products and all cooked and presented to a very high standard. Not so much a breakfast as a great morning experience, all in the surrondings of a beautiful breakfast dining area.
Easy access in and out from the house very quickly made us feel we were staying in our own place. Chris and Jenny are lovely people who have obviously put their heart and soul into this special place. It works so well resulting in a stunning experience you won't forget. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Sea view with an en suite for the perfect stay

I've stayed here on my last three visits to Northern Ireland and can't praise it enough. Beautiful, peaceful location with views over Ballyholme bay, yet handy for the excellent pubs and restaurants in Bangor or a short train journey into the heart of Belfast or beyond.
Each time I've stayed in a different room each uniquely styled with bespoke furnishing providing both a trendy yet homely feel. The highest quality cotton for the beds, warm fluffy bath towels and select bathroom products remind you this is five star plus accommodation and I haven't got to the best bit yet . . . . . . . . Breakfast !
We're talking an a la carte dining experience here. I'll skip over the local cheeses, cured meats, fresh pressed juices and sumptuous selection of fruits that adorn the antique sideboard and cut to the chase. The north of Ireland is famous for it's fried breakfasts and this is available but I've never tried it at the Cairn Bay Lodge because of the amazing alternatives on offer each morning. Freshly cooked light and creamy scrambled eggs with a generous serving of locally caught crab, baked Irish cheese with vine tomatoes and field mushrooms, hallomi, spinach and tomatoes on sourdough bread . . . . . . . you get the picture?
Over and above the accomodation and superb food you are guaranteed a warm welcome from Chris and Jenny. Friendly yet unobtrusive I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
Treat yourself - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Trust me - they're ALL good

Wow, this place is somewhere we will definitely be going back to - we didn't want to leave! As soon as you arrive, you are made to feel really welcome and it almost feels like you are staying with a good family friend. You are free to come and go as you please and the friendly owners are always chatty.

The rooms were comfortable, beautifully decorated and had nice touches such as the tea, coffee, herbal drinks, chocolate and Taytos along with bottled water. Rooms also included a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body cream and shower gel which was great. Delicious choice of breakfast everyday, couldn't fault it.

Great location overlooking the bay and close to Bangor town centre.

Absolutely perfect - if only all B&B's could be like this! Huge thanks to Jenny and Chris - they are doing a fantastic job!
