“Lovely weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

We stayed a night at Clandeboye Lodge at the end of January 2014 for my boyfriend's birthday, booking a couples weekend deal. Had a fantastic time from the moment we arrived- the hotel is lovely (clean, modern and very comfortable), staff were brilliant and happy to help with anything. We stayed in a suite- I would certainly say this is worth the bit extra as the room was fantastic, very spacious, everything you could need in there, large TV and stunning bathroom (could also hire DVDs which thought was a great extra). We had dinner and breakfast the next morning and both meals were delicious, pleasantly surprised at the quality of food considering we were there for the accommodation. All in all we had a great weekend and would definitely return again!

We stayed here overnight after attending a wedding close by.
The hotel looks really nice and is in a great location. Our bedroom was on the ground floor, room 106. We never noticed any noise from the hotel. The bedroom was large enough, seemed pretty modern and had everything that you would need. Large tv, tea/coffee making, iron/ironing board. It was also very clean.

For me the bed was far too hard, I suffer from osteoarthritis and I really was suffering the next morning because of the bed. To my surprise my wife also complained about the bed being too hard and effecting her back, and she doesn't have any back problems.

Breakfast was really nice with a choice of fruit juices, cereals and hot food.

It is a lovely hotel, it was just spoilt by the bed

I visited the Coq & Bull 'brassiere' for a valentines dinner on 13 Feb 2014 after reading a very favourable article in the local North Down Spectator (following the recent 0.5 Million re-furb). On first impressions entering the building I thought - Wow! this really is lovely. The décor and setting and layout of the restaurant is really excellent and stylish. The menu was quite good too with a nice selection of dishes. For starters I ordered the squid (which was also recommended by the attentive staff) and my girlfriend ordered scallops (which were quite pricey at £9 odd - but you expect that for scallops). When the starters came, albeit on lovely slate type plates they looked great and well presented however, there were 3 small scallops!! the squid wasn't much better with what looked like 3 squid rings cut in half (to look bigger) and the rest of the plate was buffed up with lettuce and garnish etc. Taste was fine but the quantity really was VERY miserable (especially for that price). For a main I ordered 'fish, triple cooked chips & mushy peas' My girlfriend ordered chump steak. As in most of these new restaurants, all the extras such as veg and sauces etc must be ordered separate (bumping the cost up considerably) and although it tasted ok, after finishing our course we both were very disappointed with the helpings and were still hungry. Another point was the so called 'triple cooked chips', they were actually potato wedges - considerably different from what was on the menu. They did taste ok but not what I perceive as triple cooked chips. All in all, a lovely setting, lovely décor, the waiting staff were excellent but for the price the portion sizes are absolutely dreadful.

This would be our third visit , my husband and i really love the Clandeboye Lodge hotel. Always look forward to go back and stay, the only problem is, its not long enough. Because of its quiet and rural location you would think you were in a different world. The staff I must say are brilliant nothing is to much trouble for them, they always go that extra mile, and always put you at your ease, its like one big happy family!!! As far as the food goes, we booked into the fabulous new restaurant, the words i would use PERFECTION!!!!!!!!! 5 star all the way.. dorothy x

The brand new restaurant an coq n bull menu is fantastic, reasonably priced and the food is absolutely beautiful not to mention the quality and presentation. I would highly recommend u to try it for urself. Staff are very friendly and helpful and cant do enough for u. Definatley be back again.

Went to the Clandeboye to celebrate my birthday with my family. From our arrival on the Friday to our departure on the Monday the staff were attentive to all our needs and made our stay a memorable occasion. The reception staff (Andrea and Susan) and the restaurant staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. They looked after us all from the youngest to the oldest, which included our three grandchildren, aged from two to six years of age. The newly refurbished restaurant has created a comfortable experience for the excellent meals that were served both at breakfast and our evening meal. The accommodation for our party of nine adults and three children was of a high standard with clean and efficient room service each day. This hotel provides a unique, personal experience in a beautiful setting convenient to attractions in County Down overlooking the beautiful Clandeboye Estate. Looking forward to our next break in this wonderful hotel.
