“Luxurious accommodation, gorgeous food and pleasant staff”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

My husband and I stayed in one of the Junior Suites on saturday night. I was very impressed! The room was extremely spacious and had everything we needed to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The decor in the room was modern but classy, the bathroom was absolutely fabulous with a large rainforest walk in shower.

All the staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful.

We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The food was delicious and the restaurant staff were attentive. I even loved the shape of the wine glasses and tableware, a little bit different from normal restaurants. The attention to detail in this hotel sets it above the rest! Definitely worth a visit!

Booked an Executive Room for two night weekend break - on entering the room it was lovely and spacious but very cold - thermals required - not very romantic then! Bathroom was very small and dated NO WOW factor and certainly NOT like the photos of the modern suite on the website. Dinner that evening was 'ok'(soup was cold) and felt food was bit pricey for average meal and again would have needed my fleece to keep me warm!
After a good nights sleep in the lovely comfy bed we were unable to make ourselves a morning cuppa as there were no milk portions or ordinary teabags left (we had already used them the night before). Note also need to bring your own biscuits as not provided on hostess tray in room. There was also no fridge which is surprising with it being a **** hotel.
Breakfast on the other hand was completely different to our dining experience the previous night. The cooked breakfast was excellent - warm, very delicious produce and eggs cooked to perfection! My only gripe we felt the pure orange was watered down and a waste bin should be provided at side of buffet area.
The friendly staff are a credit to the hotel and with the peaceful setting made this weekend break for us

Room Tip: If booking an Executive Room make sure you get one that has the wow factor bathroom as advertised in...

My partner and I got married here and it was wonderful. Food was amazing, staff so attentive, an overall experience I couldnt fault. Rooms were super clean, facilities in general great. I would recommend here for a wedding venue as well as accommodation. It welcomes families greatly, they couldnt do enough for my little girl (2 yrs).

My wife and I booked in to stay at the hotel last Thursday evening. We were welcomed by a friendly and relaxed member of staff for check in. We were well impressed with the room facilities particularly the Nespresso coffee machine! We had coffee and scones in the afternoon before having dinner in the Coq and Bull restaurant that evening.

We both thought the setting, atmosphere and the food in particular were of excellent quality and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and wine. The cocktails were also delicious.

I look forward to returning to the hotel and in particular the Coq and bull restaurant in the near future.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in a standard room, and I must say that we had a superb time.
The room was by no means standard, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the decor was modern and stylish whilst staying true to its natural surrounding.
Our food in the Coq & Bull restaurant was delicious, we ate there both nights, and the breakfast menu was varied and delivered promptly.
We had a lovely relaxing stay here and would return tomorrow, full recommendations from us.

Big refurb. Nice decor (yet it in some ways as 'classy' as was). Surprisingly busy for mid-week. Staff quite attentive but, having brought water and wine, didn't take the order for quite a while. Having ordered, service was slow.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, prices are too high, especially when sauces for a main course are £2.00 and a side of mash £3.00. Starters at £5.00 upwards and desserts at over £6.50 make a lunch rather expensive, especially if taken with a (large glass of wine in excess of £7.00). The double espresso served was weak and watery with no crema, let alone a biscuit or portion of chocolate.

One other thing ... because the portions are so small it is perfectly possible to feel hungry after the meal ... eat a main course only and you can feel as if you've eaten very little despite what is shown on your hefty bill.

Lovely place, nice decor but nowhere near 'value': this takes the edge off the experience, there being no 'wow' factor.

Having stayed at the Clandeboye before we knew that we would not be disappointed but we were pleasantly surprised by the works carried out here and also with the new Coq & Bull restaurant which I would highly recommend. The overall experience comes highly recommended with top class accommodation.
