“Bad times”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

Me and my partner ordered a takeaway/delivery on friday and was told it would be 30minutes so we thought no problems! 1hour pasted still no food so i phoned and the staff member said he would be there in 5 mins i said ok! Then another 25 mins pasted still no food. Do my partner phone to cancel because waiting nearly 2hours is a joke. When she phoned the man she spoke to was very very cheeky and rude! NEVER AGAIN

“Most beautiful Indian dinning experience”
Reviewed 7 May 2013 via mobile

After seeing the ad and review of Ganges bangor being taken over by Ganges Holywood owner chef Kalam, my partner and 7 year old decided to give it a try on Wednesday night. The restaurant is small and intimate with very tasteful deco. We ordered from the menu especially created by Chef Kalam, they had a great option for kids menu where you order anything from the menu and it is cooked to kids and parents taste, korma with lemon and
ginger rice is what my fussy son wanted. I had the lamb and pomegranate and my partner ordered the authentic korma.

We were given a complimentary starter served by Kalam, who introduced himself and thanked us for ordering from his specials.

When the mains arrived we looked in amazement at how beautifully they were presented, out fussy junior was delighted that his food looked like a painting. Eating this beautiful food we were even more surprised by the taste, every mouthful was a burst of fresh flavours. This is an experience that has made me look forward to booking my table for next week can't wait. Fantastic

“5 Stars: New Ownership Brings New Life and a New Menu”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

My husband and I have visited the new Ganges twice in the last 2 weeks. The restaurant is under new management and the new owner/ chef breathes new and exciting life into the place.

The new menu is exciting and filled with specialities that I had never come across before. You can choose from a mouth-watering list of tapas for your starter. One of the tapas included tuna and because the chef, Kalam, did not have any fresh tuna (and he refuses to use tinned tuna), he made up a gorgeous fish tapas starter for us. And it was incredible - spiced, tender fish, full of amazing flavours and accompanied by a tingling lime pickle. (Everything is cooked fresh and to order - no microwaved or reheated dishes here.)

On this occasion I ordered the One Pot Hot Curry for my main course. And I was not disappointed. It was vibrant, colourful, full of wonderful aromas, and the lamb was so tender that it melted in the mouth. Plus the amount of lovely lamb in the dish was impressive. The sauce with its vegetables were like nothing I'd tasted before, with lovely hints of Thai spices.

The rest of our party likewise devoured their mains and there wasn't a bad word to be said.

If you love Indian food, try the new Ganges. And I'm positive that you won't be disappointed. Kalam and his team have done a brilliant job in bringing something new and fresh to Bangor.

“Fine dinning Indian at its best”
Reviewed 1 May 2013 via mobile

Saw the feature in spectator that chef Kalam who owns ganges holywood has recently taken over this little restaurant with the vision of bringing a truly authentic menu. Building cosmetic work in progress but wow the table set up the ambience the menu and when the food arrives you are gasping with awe at the detail to presentation, service and taste. I have tried the old ganges, Bokhara, green chilli and most other Indians in Belfast but this was in a different league. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is interested in venturing past mediocre prentetious jazzed up Indian restaurants. If you want something that tastes and looks fabulous on your plate this is it
