“Great picnic area in the Walled Garden”

Hare Hill Park and Gardens.

Visited here last week with friends and enjoyed the slow walk around, loved the bird hide, and saw plenty of birds......woodpecker was very prominent. Nice touch of the Hare search for the kids.....our grandchildren will love it when we next visit with them. Recommended to enjoy our picnic in the walled garden and it was super. Will definitely visit again, and you can see the hard work that is being put in by the gardeners and volunteers to upgrade this lovely place to a great standard....alot of work to be done though......but pathways very clear and good walking made easy. Free to National Trust members......good Car Park.

Great place to relax and have a picnic. If you like gardens this is worth a visit. Nice lawned area to enjoy a picnic. Might be a struggle if you have someone disabled but not too bad for pushchairs. Most paths are tarmac but some are dirt paths. Nice bird hide also.

Spur of the moment. Aged Aunt. What do we do? We go looking for Hares at Hare Hill. A very relaxing couple of hours.

Visited towards the end of May. The rhododendrons and azaleas were at their best. Don't know how they keep the wonderful bed of hostas virtually slug and snail free. The walled garden was very tranquil - we visited in the week but apart from the wisteria there was very little colour. Had walked from Alderley Edge and were looking forward to a cup of tea. Unfortunately the only refreshments are from a hot drinks machine and we hadn't got any change. Overall a very pleasant visit.

The gardens aren’t as stunning as other National Trust properties we have visited like Biddulph, Hidcote and Bodnant, but you can have a very pleasant time wandering round the paths as there is a lot of greenery. It was very colourful as well when we visited as there were some wonderful rhododendrons flowering, but the daffodils had nearly finished. Last time we visited about the same time they were all out, but with the mild Winter I understand some plants have flowered earlier than usual. There is a walled garden and as it was a nice sunny day there were a lot of people having a picnic in it. You can get drinks from a machine and there are some second hand books. There are twelve carved wooden hares scattered about the garden so it was interesting counting them up as we walked around and we were chuffed that we managed to find them all! There is a bird hide, although we didn’t managed to see any birds feeding. It makes a nice day out to combine it with going through the gate near the entrance to the gardens where you can do a 4 mile circular walk. We didn’t actually walk that far but still enjoyed walking near the lake and into the woods which were full of bluebells.
