“Macclesfield Quality”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/412/Macclesfield-Central-hotel

We stayed here 30th November, 1st December and 2nd December 2013.

The room was refurbished, clean and warm

The receptionist (Donna I think her name is, blonde haired lady from Liverpool) is an asset to the company, very friendly and even closed the curtains before out evening arrival in the room.

On our first night, we had young people staying in rooms on 90% of the floor (2nd floor) we were staying on and although realise that we couldn't have been moved due to no other rooms, we were shocked by the noise they were making (approx 20 of them) running up and down corridors, slamming doors, knocking on doors (including ours), shouting, screaming etc....

This is not a complaint as this is not Travelodge's fault but just an observation.

I feel sorry for whoever working in the hotel had to deal with these young people.

We could've gone to the reception and complained but would not have felt comfortable going past all the people in the corridor making all the noise. We could have called Tel:
0871 984 6432 but I just didn't think, plus to call it - Calls cost 10 pence per minute from a standard BT landline. Calls from other networks and mobiles may vary.

The hotel is located well for Macclesfield Town Centre and also very well for InterCity Macclesfield Railway station.

There is a car park near ( http://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/transport_and_travel/car_parks_and_parking/car_parks_town_by_town/car_parks_in_macclesfield.aspx Gas Road SK11 6JP ) the hotel which during our stay Saturday night, Sunday night and Monday night (OUR CAR being with us during the day and only parked up at night) was a very reasonable price, also just a thought but you could overlook your car if you were on the front (railway side) of the hotel.

On the whole, very good indeed.

Travelodge refunded the night when it was noisy (£24) without being asked, I only mentioned it, so well done to them.

I stayed here the other night when I was giving a talk in Macclesfield, and had got the room for a superb £19.99 by booking months in advance. I've stayed in quite a few TLs, and I'd expected this one to be a bit tatty like many of the rest, but it had just been refurbished and was spotless - carpets, trimmings, bedlinen, bathroom, everything was brand new and clean. Susan on reception couldn't have been friendlier, and made sure she found me the quietest room. The Polish (?) girl doing the cleaning was lovely too. Very handily placed for the town and the station, and the car park out front is very cheap for overnight parking. It gets a 5* from me because it was the best anyone could possibly ask for from a budget option. I'd happily go back.

We've stayed at the Travelodge Macclesfield a few times now, the staff are really friendly, the rooms, whilst basic, are always clean and since the refurbishment cannot be faulted. Great for us when visiting family.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend as a good place to stay!

You get what you pay for and the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Didn't find the room overly noisy even though at front of hotel. Didn't bother paying for the wifi, walked up to the Main Street and found a coffee shop as 10 pounds for 30 minutes quite expensive. The hotel was close to where we needed to be so suited us. The staff were very polite and helpful.

A nice fresh travelodge but the same could not be said for the toilet. This was sorted quickly by the attentive staff. Excellent bed. As noted by other guest, rooms at the front of the hotel can be a little noisy due to the railway.

About room service.. I lost my mobile charger in this hotel.. But hotel mgmt provided another some old one..(guys forgotten in the hotel)..

Room service is avg.. One day they won't keep soap, some other day towels.. Some time half clean. The lift is horrible..
