We had tasted the Davenport's excellent fish and chips before and were keen to sample them again. We entered a packed pub on Friday, 25 April, were greeted with a warm, friendly smile and the information that we had a choice of two possible tables. Service was efficient and friendly, the fish and chips lived up to our expectations and the mushy peas were also very tasty and delicately served in a small ramequin dish.. We really appreciate the smaller, lunchtime portion.
This very old pub has been well refurbished and has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.
