“Delicious fish and chips!”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We had tasted the Davenport's excellent fish and chips before and were keen to sample them again. We entered a packed pub on Friday, 25 April, were greeted with a warm, friendly smile and the information that we had a choice of two possible tables. Service was efficient and friendly, the fish and chips lived up to our expectations and the mushy peas were also very tasty and delicately served in a small ramequin dish.. We really appreciate the smaller, lunchtime portion.

This very old pub has been well refurbished and has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.

“Dreadful service”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

I often go to this restaurant and in the past have always enjoyed it but on mon April 14th lunchtime the service was dreadful . The girl serving was not concerned with our complaints and I over heard the next table complain they got fish and chips instead of fish of day and she was equally unconcerned with them. There were workmen drilling which should not be done while people dining . It was a nice day and it was busy but we left without a dessert as couldn't face a long wait .

“Over priced terrible service”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

We drove past this place and it looked lovely on the outside and in. The service we received was terrible. There is a huge difference in how families are treated to couples. We got a poor selection of vegetables, we didn't get table service, no one came to ask if we were ok, no one said thank you or good but to us. The family guests received table service and were looked after. I needed more sauce and hand literally leave my table and go to hunt for a waitress. Very disappointing we paid the same prices as everyone else but were treated so severely different.

Our FAVOURITE local eatery. We visit on a regular basis.
Best quality food in the area including the best "Fish & Chips" anywhere.
Sunday roast is also a big favourite.
Warm and friendly atmosphere.
Good well kept beer.

“Warm welcome”
Reviewed 11 March 2014 via mobile

On our many visits to the Davenport Arms we are always given a warm welcome. The food is of excellent quality , and the beer is kept well!! I would say this is one of the best places to dine out within the Macclesfield area !! One to try and highly recommended !!
