“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

We stayed here the night before flying out of Manchester airport. It was very clean and comfortable and quiet. We had an excellent nights sleep. The receptionist was very helpful and told us where to eat etc.

This Travelodge has had a recent refurbishment as I understand and it is a vast improvement on others I have used.

I managed to check in quite well as I was checking in 13 people!! and wanted to do it before I went to a wedding nearby. I was asked to pay £10 per room for early check in or wait until 3.00 pm but the young lady on reception was very helpful.

The rooms are spacious and bright, very clean, with tea and coffee. The new Travelodge Dreamer bed was really really good and I personally would like to buy one, but unlikely to happen! I like to new colour schemes as they seem to brighten everything and appear to be based on the Travelodge logo colours. The powerful shower was good and we had plenty of towels.

The car park was OK with lovely views of the fields which you would see if you had a room at the back. Our room was facing the back and had a view of the countryside but I understand that those who stayed in front facing rooms had no noise from the main road.

The one downside, and I guess that it is not the fault of the Travelodge, is the boarded up Little Chef which detracts from what is a good spot. For anyone wanting breakfast, there is the Kingfisher about a mile away in Poynton (Wetherspoons) The food is excellent and inexpensive. We had a lovely breakfast there.

I would definitely recommend this Travelodge and if the company improve them all to this standard, I will use them more often.

I stay here fairly regularly as it is convenient, clean, and usually very good value if booked well in advance on line. This time though (17th September) not so impressive. The on-line booking best, no cancellation refund, deal was £46; £15 more than I have ever paid before, and poor value for a basic, room only, with single occupancy, The much hyped refurb did not appear to go mucbh further than a new bedspread, and although the room looked clean there was a definite smell of mould; on arrival at 5pm the room felt cold, clammy, and slightly mouldy. I also noticed - though it didn't affect me - that there is no longer a sofa bed in the room, so you couldn't put more than two people in it. They should really do something about the dead Little Chef building that greets you as you arrive ......

Room Tip: Quietest upstairs at the back

Thank you for your review Christopher W. We understand you are unhappy with your room rate, we are still committed to offering competitive rates and advise customers to book as far in advance as possible to access the cheapest rates. We are sorry to hear you found the room to smell of mould on this occasion. We expect our rooms to be clean and fresh, and should our staff notice any unpleasant odours then the rooms should be aired thoroughly. The hotel will be made aware of the feedback that you have left which will help support any improvements that need to be made.

We have stayed here a few times in recent years. This lodge has had a recent refurb and looks great.

Easy check in as we arrived at 11.00pm.

Lovely room, very clean, plenty of tea and coffee. Very powerful shower and lovely new towels.

The room is all newly fitted out. Fantastic new bed and two very plump pillows each.
There are also two comfy chairs in the room.

The car park was tidy and lovely views of the fields which you would see if you had a room at the back. Our room was front facing and overlooked the busy road but no road noise in the room.

The Little Chef has closed up but a new Wetherspoons has opened in Poynton and we had a lovely breakfast there.

We have stayed in many Travelodges over the years and this is one of the best.

I can respect the work of hoteliers and how hard it is to manage a popular hotel, especially one used primarily for fussy wedding guests; but this place is simply appalling. Upon arrival, you enter a run down car park that could easily belong outside some derelict Inn with the beautiful views across a main road and a derelict Little Chef. The reception is dank, musty, dirty and has quite frankly, a disgusting smell and overall atmosphere. There are then a number of ground floor rooms branching off in many directions, however, my room was upstairs down a narrow, unsuitable corridor that is stuck in 1975. The rooms are the average budget hotel size, fair enough. They have budget hotel fittings, fair enough. They have mould in the windows, unacceptable! Yes, mould. Clear and noticeable all around the window, in the bathroom and in corners of walls. It doesn't stop there. The bed was filthy, with a couple of evident stains and half of someone's hair-line still on the sheets. You would not dare to walk barefoot in the room due to pure filth on the floor and all over for that matter. The staff were not at all helpful, not very respectful, empathetic or understanding. This place is a hell on earth and a disgrace to Travelodge. For the record, I was here with 13 other relatives for a wedding at nearby Adlington Hall and all were disgusted. For the sake of your health and sanity, DO NOT STAY HERE at all costs. It's not a matter of 'you get what you pay for' because even at approximately £30, I have standards. Please go elsewhere. PLEASE!

On arriving I was disappointed to see that the Little Chef was closed and boarded up which didn't give me a good first impression of the place, we had a chipped cup and the curtain rail was damaged and made closing the curtains difficult. on a positive note it was ideally situated and clean and well fitted. I was disappointed to have to go about a mile to Weatherspoons for breakfast due to there being no facilities on site.
