“Perfect for my needs”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

This hotel is in the perfect place for me to visit relations in the northwest. Easy access to local towns and free onsite parking. The staff are all very keen to please.
The old Little Chef building has recently opened as an Indian restaurant, and on the night we went it was excellent.

As with ALL travelodges - the building is what you'd expect. Every room I've stayed in has been virtually the same - this is a GOOD thing, not a negative - you always know what you're going to get. The guy on reception was extremely efficient and helpful - and kept himself busy with cleaning and tidying the outside approach to the hotel when not at the desk.
As is usually the case, this particular travelodge was selected on the 'standard' criteria of Location/Price/Availability - we wanted a place to crach before flying out from Manchester Airport - but I'd look at this one first next time we need somewhere in this area - ideal for getting into Stockport for the evening, pleanty of places to eat a short drive away, and good access to the Airport.

My daughter and I arrived at this hotel tired after a long day. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Despite having, at that date, no restaurant facilities (they were opening the day we left!) they made sure we were aware or everything they could provide. The room was spotless and the additional bed had been made up despite out forgetting to request this they had used common sense and anticipated what we would need. I would have no hesitation about staying here again. Home from Home not a phrase which would normally apply to a Travelodge but it applies here :)

Room Tip: A room at the back might be better. There is little road noise if you keep the windows closed but i...

First impressions were not good as Indian restaurant beside lodge was getting refurbished and there was rubbish lying & blown everywhere. But out side the lodge was clean & tidy.
Checking in was smooth fast and very pleasant, Carol & her male colleague were very polite and chatty, coulnt do enought for me when asked where i could get a bite to eat after 2100. Phoned hotels and gave me direction to a place called Sizzlers. Cracking meal and good value, would highly reccommend.

Stayed in this refurbished hotel for 3 nights costing £77. We received a warm welcome and found all of the staff very pleasant and friendly. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. Enough hangers for a short stay. To be fair it looks like Travel Lodge is trying to catch up with Premier Inns as they now supply small bottles of bubble bath/shampoo and as we were about to leave soap dispensers were being installed. Still no hair dryers but you can borrow one from reception, likewise iron and ironing board.

On the downside and we are being very picky here is that there wasn't a programme guide on the TV for some reason and the towel rail in the bathroom wasn't heated which would have been helpful. There wasn't a restaurant but you could get hot snacks which we didn't try. There is going to be an Indian Restaurant next door for anyone that likes Indian food but about half a mile either side are a couple of good pubs serving good food.

We would certainly recommend this hotel for a budget stay.

Room Tip: We had room 7 which was on the ground floor on the back of the hotel overlooking a lawned and wood a...

Stayed here on a Saturday for 1 night stopover on way home from Scotland. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was spotless, bed comfortable and hotel was very quietly situated. We even had a woodland view from the bedroom window. Good eating facilities just a mile away from hotel. Would return for longer stay to explore the surrounding area as quite close to the Peak District. 30 minutes free Wi-Fi after that you had to pay.

Room Tip: We stayed at back of hotel with woodland views. Really quiet.

Newly refurbished (or "Lick of paint" as Mr O'Reilly would say) makes this one the of Travelodges you can stay in without wondering what on earth you are doing in a dive like this. Basic, but clean and tidy and very helpful staff. No food facilities at the moment (avoid the 'packed breakfasts' at all costs) but shortly to open in the building previously occupied by The Little Chef is an Indian restaurant. A very astute move by someone.
