A small bar in the heart of Macclesfield, for lovers of fine wine and chilling out in the summer evenings. Good range of fine fines and sherry, with the option for simple grazing snacks to enjoy.

“Best bar in macclesfield”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Me and my fiancé have visited tempranillo on a few occasions now and have enjoyed every visit. The wines, although not cheap are excellent quality and well worth the money and the cava is excellent. We have sampled the tapas boards and were impressed with the interesting meats and cheese on offer.
The bar is small, but this adds to the atmosphere and it is lovely in an evening with low lighting and candles on all the tables. The staff are all friendly and make everyone feel welcome whether they are regulars or visiting the bar for the first time.
By far our favourite bar in macclesfield and we are looking forward to many more visits in the future.

“A delicious lazy Sunday afternoon”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Went to Tempranillo for the Sunday pop up tapas, to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was full as it had sold out and there was a buzzing atmosphere and very welcoming and friendly staff.

The first tapas dish was Russian salad, chorizo and anchovies displayed on a wooden board. It looked stunning and the flavours backed it up.

Dish 2 was garlic mushrooms, these were delicious and had white wine in the sauce.

Dish 3 Gazpacho, served cold of course, elegantly in a wine glass, very refreshing.

Dish 4 Spinach Tortilla served with a drizzle of garlic mayonnaise, which really added to the flavours in the tortilla.

Dish 5 Meatballs in a tomato sauce. These were pork and beef which made them light but very tasty.

Dish 6 Black pudding in brandy sauce with sweet red peppers, wow, this dish was stunning, a crumbly black pudding with a creamy sauce.

Dish 7 Vanilla ice cream with Pedro Jimenez and raisins, a simple but tasty dessert to finish the meal.

The price per person was £20, what a lot of food for the money, didn't manage to finish everything and had I have needed it there was a basket of assorted breads on the table. I highly recommend the whole dining experience and the fantastic selection of wines that Tempranillo offers.

“Great food, outstanding wine”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

I went with my wife to Tempranillo's inaugural Sunday afternoon tapas event and we had a fab time. Space maybe at a premium but it helps to create a lovely, bustling atmosphere and the tables are very generously spaced unlike many other restaurants.

The wine was first class, as you'd expect you pay more for it but it was worth every penny and Chris the owner is very knowledgable. The tapas food was great - bread, dips, peppers, cooked meats, beef, chorizo, black pudding, a dessert and cheeseboard. My description does it a disservice but it was excellent.

Perfect surroundings, perfect food and wine and a really nice couple who deserve to do well. We will be back and touch wood we get a table.

“Simplicity and quality....”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

Everything at Tempranillo is really well done, wine and food especially. Love how they keep it simple with quality cured meats and cheeses, just what you need with a fabulous glass of wine. Excellent value given the quality of the wine and the food, lovely lovely staff too. Great place to sit and read or chat to other interesting people. LOVE.
