This Hotel was an absolute delight. We really loved the cosy, old time ambiance. The Lounge and dining rooms have a lovely feel to them and with very high ceilings they felt extremely spacious, too. Our Hostesses, Wendy and her Daughter, were magnificent. So warm and friendly that it was almost like staying your Grandmother's home. The Evening meal was very, very good and the breakfast just perfect in the lovely dining room. The location is perfect for Hadrian's Wall and while we were at Oakwood Park there was a group of young people doing the whole length from Newcastle to Carlisle and so we had a lovely evening with them talking all things Roman. I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was very nice but if you find it difficult to use a shower in the bath you may find difficu...

This is a lovely country hotel in a great setting. Although just outside the village it is close enough to walk. My room was large and very well presented. Dinner and breakfast were superb and the owner could not be friendlier and more helpful.

Another stop-off point for my Hadrian's Wall Trail walk. On arrival I was offered tea/coffee and biscuits in the drawing room. Again a most welcome diversion after a very hard day's walking in heat. The bedroom itself had fresh fruit and chocolate to greet my arrival, plus 2 very needed bottles of water. Not every b n b had bottled water in the room so when you do see it you applaud believe you me! I stayed on a Sunday night so I cannot regale you with the delights of dinner [I hear it is VERY good here], as Sunday is the only day that Oakwood does not serve dinner. Breakfast was extremely tasty though and served in one of the more opulent breakfast rooms on the Trail. Once again the hosts are prepared to give you a lift back to the Trail. If you have time the Hotel grounds are worth an explore in their own right...

Cycling the Hadrian's Wall Cycle route we stayed for 2 nights here. Wonderful hotel, the room was extremely comfortable and very quiet. The first night was a Sunday so no meal available, but we walked into Brampton and found a pub serving there. Monday night we ate in and the food was delicious. The breakfasts were really good and great before a day's cycling. A very friendly and comfortable hotel, I would not hesitate to recommend it, we will certainly be back.

wonderful stay again at Oakwood Park my room was sumptuous huge and gorgeous. The little touches are so special. Sewing kit etc everything you can think of. I ate here again and the meal was superb I really reccommend the beef in cider with crusty dumplings and a good choice of home made deserts.Poor old Basil the turkey has died of old age but chirpy Colin the Cockerel a new addition is quite a character. Great views beautiful rooms and wonderful hosts I will try and return this year, I love it.

Room Tip: they are all beautiful

Set in a Manor house with grounds the hotel is as comfortable as you cold wish for. Excellent food, had an evening meal and cooked breakfast and both were delicious. Quiet and good nights sleep. Great hosts and very good value for money. Will be using this hotel in future, a nice relaxed place to stay. The antidote to the contrived boutique hotel.
