The best property I have been to. Most helpful and polite hosts.
Spacious and clean.
Near the town so convenient for takeaway
Hubby and I just spent two lovely weeks at this cottage . The Old Laundry features, downstairs, a spacious very well equipped kitchen (hob, double oven, microwave, fridge, freezer , dishwasher, washing machine and of course crockery, pots and wares) , a comfortable living room with nice big modern tv ( cables and Netflix), and upstairs two lovely double sleeping rooms ( one double bed and two twin which can be made into a double ) with cable tvs and en suite bathrooms (bath tub in one and big shower in the other), and a nice private little courtyard with table and chairs for an al fresco tea or meal, all surrounded by lovely woods and the rather majestic view of rolling pastures. I am very sensitive to smoke and could not feel any.
The cottage is very quiet, although it is attached both to the main house and the Old Coach, and even if the estate is just off the Brampton bypass, no cars can be heard from it.
The location of the Estates is super - two eminently walkable miles from Brampton, a nice little town with shops (Cranston’s for deli and butchery) and restaurants, nine miles from bigger Carlisle, nice walks from the door ( Lanercost Priory, Talkin Tarn, Brampton and Ridgewood) , and less than an hour’s drive from the Lake District, Eden valley, Northumberland, Solway coast, and any of the many fascinating sites of Hadrian’s wall (Sycamore Gap included), all accompanied by cosy tea houses and amazing views and sites. Lots of updated brochures and home made itineraries to give numerous different ideas for outings and activities in the cottage itself. We did not eat out as a rule but had very nice tea breaks and a truly tasty, freshly cooked lunch at the Howard Arms in Brampton.
Last but absolutely not least - your hosts, Emma and Justin, are absolutely wonderful, showing they care and really wish you to have a good relaxing holiday at your own pace. It is evident they love the place and put a lot of work and energy in its restoration and constant upkeep.
We really recommend this gem of a place and hope to be back very soon.
What a place! Immaculate cottages beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard and fully equipped with everything you need and more. Tranquil surroundings. The kids loved it too with lots of games and spacious grounds to run around.
Our family rented The Old Laundry together with my sister's family in The Old Coach house, it couldn't have been better!
The owners were extremely helpful.
Would definitely recommend it.
We had a lovely welcome to Old Laundry in the Four Gables Estate with the owners waiting to greet us as we drove up.
The cottage itself is a beautifully restored, old building attached to the owners' House. The restoration has been done caringly by the owners and family and original features have been retaywhere possible. The furniture, fixtures and fittings are all really good quality, especially the beds. The ensuite bathroom and shower room are also equipped with high quality fittings.
The kitchen has been thoughtfully designed and kitted out, with a double fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and hob and microwave. Everything we needed was there and, the tea/coffee tray set out for our arrival was a lovely touch.
There were large, smart, flat screen TVs in both bedrooms and lounge, so we were able to use our own Netflix as well as the Free Tv and BluRay DVD player. WiFi Broadband was a good speed and available throughout the cottage.
We did try to find fault with the Cottage, but really couldn't! We would definitely recommend Old Laundry and hope to stay, again next year ourselves!
The property is finished to a very high standard, and guests are fully provided for.
The setting is beautiful and the hosts Emma and Justin, were very accommodating.
The nearby village of Brampton, which we were able to walk to away from the road with both prams, was both quaint and well serviced with decent small supermarkets for all the essentials and more traditional groceries and butchers to choose from as well as enough pubs for a respectable little crawl. There is also a nice swing park on the way, which our boys enjoyed. The beds were comfortable and the place had all the facilities you would only expect from a luxury hotel. We genuinely couldn't ask for anything more and would definitely recommend this charming holiday rental to friends.
The renovation has been very well done and the quiet location is a great base to explore the surrounding countryside which includes lovely towns and villages, Hadrian's Wall and is also very close to the north side of The Lake District.
The two larger holiday homes in the complex are even more luxurious and are clearly great venues for family parties.
We will return later in the year.
