Another nice old stone building (actually 2 buildings), very close to Lanercost Priory, on a small country road, and convenient for Hadrian Wall Path walkers. Rooms were reasonably priced.

My room was a small en suite meant for a single, with a small but perfectly functional bathroom. The bed was comfortable. There was virtually no traffic outside at night, resulting in a great night's sleep. The shower enclosure was small, but the water was nice and hot.

Breakfast, cooked by the host, is served at a variety of times. There are various choices for breakfast, and everything tasted great. Dinner is also available if arranged in advance, and served at 7. It is chef's choice. If you choose this option, going by my own experience, you will not be disappointed.

If hiking the trail or touring the Abbey, this is a great choice for a night's rest.

Arriving all 5 us (one following later, one injured and had to travel home,) after walking 18 miles with backpacks and wet and very tired one of our party entered the premises looking for staff or a reception area after calling out to attract attention he was addressed by a lady who made us feel very unwelcome she asked (do you live here?). What? After explaining we had arranged bookings months previously the attitude changed a little. We were asked to take boots etc off and some of our party were in one house, husband and myself in the other (had to put boots back on to cross the gravel path. We were then asked if we had received the e mail regarding booking in advance for an evening meal which we had not. Not to worry we got a taxi into Brampton however we felt the lady was lecturing us down to filling in a form for breakfast the next day and signing another document. We just wanted to get into rooms and showered etc then sort out the paperwork.

We later found out she was the wife of the owner and was on holiday from her teaching work, she did not seem the right person to greet a group of weary walkers! Overall place was clean and tidy honesty bar was welcome and breakfast was nice. Phone reception was poor, as expected on the walk standing near the bridge reception was much better. We did not order packed lunches so cannot comment. Nice place but a smile would not go amiss very methodically run.

Room Tip: We stayed in the blacksmiths section nice room tea making facilities, double shower toiletries suppl...

Tim has this one down to a tee! We stayed here for two nights during our 15 day road trip across Northumberland, Scotland & Hadrian's Wall Country and it was by far our favourite! We stayed in the Old Smithy - self contained part - and it was beautifully appointed. The rooms were lovely and we particularly appreciated the "honesty" fridge fully stocked with cool drinks and alcoholic beverages. Breakfast was a treat with the soft boiled eggs as perfect as they come! Tim was very kind to pop my laptop charger in the post the very next day. Hope to be back one day!

A stop during our Hadrian's wall hiking, a little bit away from the path, during a rather atypically British hot summer period. Authentic and very comfortable and clean accomodation. An excellent 3 course menu is served. Friendly staff.

We were cycling coast to coast, and on day 2 we stayed here. Great family run establishment with well-stocked honour bar. Awesome power showers after a long day cycling/ walking! Highly recommended. They also make a great full English with fried banana!

Lovely location and quite close to Hadrians' Wall which I was walking with my grandaughter.Very comfortable, clean en-suite rooms.Good breakfast served at a very large communal farmhouse style table. Most guests were sharing war stories about their walk along the Wall! Dinner can be served if pre-ordered a day earlier but we went to the tea rooms at Lanercost Priory which is good if a little limited for choice. Its also posible to take a bus into Brampton for dinner and a taxi back.

Stayed here for one night on our walk of the Hadrian's Wall path. A short detour off the route, but a lot closer than Brampton.

We were welcomed, despite our wet, muddy and bedraggled state after spending a day out walking on a typical English Summer's day!

The accommodation is of a high quality and very clean. It's an organised and efficiently run establishment, which we personally appreciated. The breakfast options are many and ordered the day before, which provided us with opportunity to have a variation on the 'full English', kippers to be precise and very nice indeed.

On the evening we were there, we went into Brampton for drinks and eats. If we had read this website, we would've realised that in addition to the offer of an evening meal, the host also provides a well stocked and varied 'honesty bar' and probably would've stayed local.

Room Tip: We booked a twin room + a single via an online booking agency. This had been advised to Abbey Bridge...
