Went on a twilight walk looking for owls with the RSPB.
Saw little owls hunting over the grassland and a barn owl came into the barn as the leader was talking about them. Also they have cameras on the nests so we managed to glimpse some baby owls.
A really lovely experience, and we got a walk as well.

The reserve is an area being restored from it's former use as a coal mining area. There are plenty of interesting remains of the mining industry and beautiful meadows surrounded by beautiful fells

and find something different! Of course, the weather - you get brilliant skyscapes - but there's also the wild flowers, birds, lake with a hide, streams and you can climb the fell. The RSPB house has info. about the latest birds spotted in the area (and there is a toilet outside).

No great entrance or facilities just a great place for a walk short or long. There is an information centre which can be unmanned but just walk in. The views are sensational, the terrain not difficult and a huge area to choose from.
