“Don't use this one if you are a Vegetarian?”

Description: One of my stranger suggestions. Run by the charity who operate a small branch line which meets the main Paddington to Penzance line at this station, the old signal box, up a short staircase is a quaint but friendly and hospitable snack bar on an otherwise isolated and inhospitable station. The limited profits go to the charity but the food is tasty simple and very good value. A useful novelty that might otherwise go unnoticed. Worth a listing.

“Don't use this one if you are a Vegetarian?”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

You would think in this day and age, Vegetarians would be able to get a Vegetrian Sausage Bab or a Vegetarain Bacon Bab? But no not in this café, only a Fried Egg Bap. The Lady who works here refuses to cater for Vegetarians, and even questions you why you are a Vegetarian and tells you, you should not be one? Best to wait until you are on the train, or until you get to where ever you are going?

“Great cake!”
Reviewed 15 May 2013 via mobile

Popped in here whilst waiting for the train to London. It was nice to sit by the window and watch the steam train which was preparing to depart. Felt like I had stepped back in time! I do like the fact that use had been made of the old signal box to provide a quirky independent station cafe. Much better than one of the usual chains.

Enjoyed a decent cup of coffee but the absolute best thing was the delicious coffee and walnut cake. I got a huge slice which was packed with walnuts and oozing with butter cream - a real treat!

“Awesome”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

Popped into this bijou station cafe a number of times when passing through. Forget the plastic wrapped commercial rubbish you get on most stations. Here things are homemade and freshly cooked, wonderful cakes and slabs of bread and butter cooking and service with a smile. And all this in the quirky surrounds of an old signal box. A wonderful, wonderful place.

“New years day 2013”
Reviewed 1 January 2013

Nice to see open on a bank holiday. Great bacon bap and cuppa. We thought we would visit this cafe and combine it with a nice walk through the woods to Lanhydrock. Turned out to be a very good idea as we all thoroughly enjoyed the walk and especially the cafe. Good food and friendly service. Can highly recommend.
