“A must for wine drinkers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2008

We visited the Camel Valley winery not knowing what to expect. Recommend the grand tour and tasting experience - Expect the unexpected! An informative tour conducted by the owner himself (Bob Lindo), an endearing, honest gentleman with a sense of humour followed by a tasting session where you will be presented with the opportunity to taste most of the wines produced at Camel Valley. Exceptional sparkling white wine (can't call it Champagne) which I really didn't expect to find outside of France - a true great. The sparkling red did it for us though. Exceptional again and we had to buy a few bottles, a sparkling rose, some sparkling white and the unique Bacchus white. This was not your usual tour and tasting, it's informal, friendly and they're not stingy with the tastings which makes it good value for money, be careful if you have to drive home, it's all very moreish.

“Worth a stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2008

I decided to make a quick stop at this winery as I had read their sparkling wine had won an international award. As an Anglophile, I love England but can't say the same for English wines so I was curious.

When we arrived the tasting room wasn't open. One of the people working there had the key and led us to it (this was January so I guess they don't get many visitors). I tasted the pinot noir sparkling and was impressed; no wonder many Cornish weddings feature this wine. The tasting room and balcony overlooking the vineyard was very nice and I can imagine in the summer it would be a great place to visit.

The person that opened the tasting room was very knowledgeable about wines. He also seemed amused when I pointed out the advantages of global warming for the English wine industry (longer growing season). :)

This is worth a casual stop, more time in warmer months.

“A must-visit if you enjoy wine and English countryside!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2007

I found out about this place whilst researching English wineries. Camel Valley is large by English standards (90,000 bottles per year) and set in beautiful rolling hills. There are tours offerred at set times but people can also go along and have a tasting without booking. You can also purchase a bottle for consumption on their lovely sun terrace whilst enjoying the views. Perfect for a sunny day!

No food is available here and there isn't a lot to entertain kids with.
