Travelling from Scotland we have made a regular visit to Camel Valley Vineyard part of our annual holidays after making our first visit to any vineyard several years ago. On our initial visit we took in the tour, unsure what to expect and a little apprehensive as to whether our lack of knowledge on the winemaking process would be apparent. we needn't have worried in the slightest. Mr Bob Lindo was a delight, as subsequently we discovered all of the Lindos and their staff are, and debunked a lot of wine mythology whilst underplaying the significant accolades and awards the Vineyard has achieved.
Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine overlooking the vines is tranquillity itself and time does appear to stand still. There were signs discouraging mobile phones and this does add to the ambience of the experience but there's always someone that this doesn't apply to/or is an exception/or has to make a quick call VERY LOUDLY.
A little out of the way but isn't everything in Cornwall? but certainly worth the effort and of course it is a working Vineyard. it is nice to put a face to the producers and their increasing number of tv appearances do not do them credit. Well worth a visit but make sure you have room in the car for a case of wine or three!
