“Great golf course and hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

Returned for third time for a golfing break ( would have been fourth but was in France last year) greeted by usual exceptionally friendly staff in every department, very much a can do approach. Unfortunately it was the Cornish Monsoon season, but with the help of the Pro Shop staff we were able to play a few holes between the showers. Eventually getting a whole 18 holes in the sunshine.
Food as in previous years was very good, the rooms excellent, although would agree with another review the rooms on the first floor (and the corridor) were much too hot, even with the bedroom window fully open.
We shall be returning next year, which says it all :-)

This is the second time I have been to this Hotel & as with the first time the room & bathroom
were very clean. The staff all very nice, bar service a little slow, but one can live with that, food good with good size portions

We attended a golf event which included food - we did not stay at the hotel.
The organisation was excellent and the golf course was in excellent condition considering there has been little rain for weeks the greens were superb.
It is a parkland course which is very enjoyable but testing so would appeal to golfers of all levels.

The food in the restaurant - a 2 course carvery - was delicious. The choice and quality of products was outstanding. I am not a fan of carvery but I have to say this was simply mouth watering. The staff were efficient and very friendly.

The location is great and really is worth a visit

My wife and I spent 3 days here at the beginning of July at the end of our annual holiday. We had been staying in a cottage at Twowatersfoot and had 3 days to spare after our time in the cottage and liked the area so much decided to find somewhere close-by to stay. I looked on line at what was available and decided to take a look at two local hotels; both being golf complexes, one in Lostwithiel and this one. My wife and I are not golfers but just wanted somewhere nice to stay. Having looked at both hotels Lanhydrock won hands down.

So we booked our room and they were very accommodating at meeting my wifes need to be on the ground floor. The hotel is set in a stunning location, surrounded by the golf holes and with long distance views over the cornish countryside. The room (3) was very nice indeed with spotlessly clean spacious modern rooms and high quality fittings. The staff were were very attentive and friendly.

The first breakfast was a buffet type and everything was freshly cooked and tasty. I tried some potatoes and caramalised onions to go with my breakfast which was a nice change. The second mornings breakfast was ordered at the table and this turned out to be somewhat overcooked and dried up, so it is obvious that, in this case, the food was cooked earlier then kept warm, and is not cooked to order. We dined in the restaurant that night and my starter was not quite the ingredients stated on the menu; the main course turned out to be pub type food dressed up in a fancy name. The chef and waiters were very helpful to modify the food to suit my dietary needs (Coeliac). The morning after the breakfast was back to buffet and back to being good again; the waiter had remembered my condition and arranged for gluten free sausages to be cooked specially for me; a really nice gesture.

This is a really nice and well run hotel. Some attention to the food would make it excellent. I would have no hesitation in returning to spend more time at this hotel.

This hotel is in a perfect location with amazing far reaching views, the food on the terrace was very good and the waiter service excellent, my room was very spacious and modern, however it was extremely hot with no air conditioning and there was a loud generator sounding noise all night which prevented a good nughts sleep, I have stayed here before on the ground floor and had no noise disruptions, I did notify the receptionist on leaving and she said she will have someone check it out so maybe the next person in room 40 will have a better nights sleep than I did

In July 2013, i was taken to Cornwall for a break and Bodmin was chosen as a stopover on the way home

A brand was suggested by my friend who has frequently stayed in Bodmin for the past twenty years or so

I chose the Lanhydrock purely because it was a hotel with a restaurant

I am severely disabled and they were happy to immediately say that they had a walk in shower - full marks

When we arrived there was a gofl tournament in full swing yet reception was quick to answer out entry and our rooms were yards through the adjacent door

Each of our rooms overlooked the 18th hole, had a patio and table and chairs. The view was fabulous as the green acres disappeared into the distance and traffic noise was absent. (When we unwound and totally relaxed, the noise of the nearby A30 was a low unobtrusive hum)

The rooms were very well equipped and comfortable - with somewhere to put the scatter cushions!

The bathroom was very spacious and the large seperate shower with two heads invited a long cool shower.

The shower gel and shampoo were high grade, and reception were quick to provide a shoe shine

The restaurant overlooked the course and our well spaced table was by the panoramic window

Despite the tournament aftermath, the restaurant and food were superb

On the Saturday there was a wedding (only to be expected in such a setting) but the expected noise was absent - because the party was on the other side of the hotel. So I could watch The Stones at Glastonbury in peace.

The breakfast was fabulous with a good selection of juice, fruit and cheese as well as the traditional full bacon breakfast and also fish and eggs cooked to order

We stayed for two nights but I would be happy to sit on the patio for days (The sunshine helped!)

Room Tip: I didn't use any spa facilities The golf course was popular and well kept with loads of buggies...

Had a lovely nights stay here, nice clean room overlooking the golf course, unfortunately it wasn't warm enough to sit out at the little table and chair outside the room. Had a good dinner in the bistro in the evening, something for everyone on the menu. The self service breakfast was nice too, hot and cold food. I would stay again.
