“An incomparable holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

My family have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Chark. It was our second visit and this time we brought my elderly parents. The facilities and activities kept everyone happy, feeding animals and pony cart rides a highlight, and owners Jenny and Clive went out of their way to offer help. Added to this, the farm's location near the coast, and other sites, made this an incomparable holiday.

We stumbled across this absolute gem of a family holiday venue one cold February 2014 evening on Trip Advisor. Reviews were all excellent which caught our eye and the whole experience exceeded our expectations and more than ticked the box!

Jenny was a simply amazing and warm host and after our arrival my wife and I felt we'd known for years.

From offering to help unpack the car, receiving our online shop due to delayed traffic arrival and putting our shopping in the fridge/freezer, milk, eggs, tea, coffee within the immaculately clean cottage, and so peaceful despite the proximity to a host of animals on the farm, the rest of the week followed as the best UK holiday yet with our five and a half year old daughter who simply adored the farm, animals and owners.

We were taken on three horse and cart rides around the quiet country lanes which all the children loved with Jenny and parents, rides on Billy the miniature pony, a milking demonstration, and my wife loved driving the quad bike type vehicle up the hill with Clive's supervision!

Chark Farm is perfectly located 3 miles from Bodmin in a quiet valley about 1/3 of a mile off the main road and a heavenly venue for families in our opinion. We were no more than an hour from all main resorts and a great family beach at Polkerris en route to Fowey is 6 miles away but Perrinporth and Watergate Bay also recommended!

We also visited St Michael's Mount, Port Isaac, Padstow, Fowey, Lostwithiel and a special birthday lunch at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen which can recommend all of.

Jenny meets the children daily at 8am and 5pm who are encouraged to help look after the animals such as Fluffy the Pig (a star!), Billy the pony, watching the milking of the calves & lambs, geese, ducks and guinea pigs also a feature!

We have already booked for 2015 and the first repeat venue ever in the UK for a holiday which speaks volumes for us and our daughter was in tears when we left!

For anyone reading this review and the cynics surrounding Trip Advisor, believe me this is a 100% honest appraisal and I promise you won't be disappointed and my wife and I aren't always easily pleased! I am a big believer in feedback both ways and too many people in life are quick to criticise but never praise. Chark Farm is a quality establishment and have recommended to all our friends, family and work colleagues.

Thank you Jenny & Clive for a wonderful holiday and we wish you continuing success at Chark and look forward to returning next year!

Best Wishes
Neil, Trina & Ruby.

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic week at Chark Farm. The accommodation was clean and everything was provided for a self catering holiday if you wanted to eat in. We were lucky with the weather and the location was excellent for exploring the whole of Cornwall, we travelled down to St Michael's Mount which took approximately 1 hour. Although we went as a couple and stayed in a 1 bedroom cottage, the farm was excellent for family holidays and there is a variety of accommodation available to rent. Clive and Jenny were welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to ensure that everyone enjoyed their stay. A great week which we hope to repeat soon.

We have just returned from an amazing holiday with Jenny and Clive at Chark Farm. They were brilliant hosts who can't do enough for you. The actual cottage was like a home from home and perfect for our 2.5 and 6.5 year old as was on one level, safe enclosed garden at the rear. We all loved helping out with the feeding of the animals every morning and most nights. We collected an abundance of fresh eggs most days which were yummy. Highlight was walking Fluffy the pig to the paddock, the dairy unit tour, which is very interesting and Clive was a great tour guide! Our eldest rode Billy the Pony, Lady Jane the horse and helped steer Jasmine and the cart twice! The cottages are very central to many places and their is so much to do in the area, we didn't get to do everything we wanted too! You could quite easily spent a day or two at the farm and do some country walks in the local area. The woodland walk is fun, with little stone steps, bridges and stys, some bits with a toddler a little scary but well worth it! We highly recommend staying here and we will be going back next year if not once but maybe more if we can fit it in!!

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Chark Farm. Jenny and Clive were very welcoming hosts. Accommodation was very well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There are 5 rental properties set within a courtyard setting and its all very peaceful and relaxing. The ducks, goats, chickens and pig are great distractions whatever age you might be! Close to Loswithiel with pubs, fish and chip, various takeaways and convenience stores. Well positioned for both the north and south coasts. Watergate Bay great if you fancy body boarding or surfing. Falmouth, St Mawes and St Ives all within about an hours drive and well worth visiting. Fowey, Mevagissy, Padstow and Siblyback Lake (great for kayaking, cycling, water skiing, sailing etc) all within easy reach. We will use again next time we visit the area.

My wife and I and our two young children have just returned home following a weeks holiday at chark farm.
The holiday exceeded all our expectations - a major factor being the cottage/farm and the very accommodating Jenny whom is a fantastic host!
Chark is well situated within Cornwall - close to a number of lovely towns such as fowey, padstow and lostwithiel - a sample of the ones we visited.
Thankfully the weather was fantastic so we managed to squeeze in a number of days at the beach - polkerris beach is circa 6 miles away and is a lovely, quiet and very clean beach situated in picturesque surroundings.
Our children are aged nearly four and 2 ... Their holiday highlight is being around the farm, feeding the animals (in particular fluffy the pig) and also riding billy the horse. Jenny was always very accommodating and couldn't do enough to make our stay an enjoyable one.
We are in the process of booking our next trip......

We have just returned from our 5th holiday at Chark. It is a little bit of heaven in an idyllic part of Cornwall. Very central for many places & just a few miles from Bodmin & St Austell.
Jenny & Clive always make you so welcome & nothing is too much trouble. We have spent time in several of the cottages now & each one is always spotlessly clean & to a very high standard. Tea, coffee, sugar & milk always available to make that first cuppa. Along with lovely fresh eggs & cream in the fridge. Supermarkets are within a few miles with Asda at Bodmin & a larger Asda at St Austell. Also Morrisons, Tesco & Sainsburys near by.
There is a lovely fish & chip shop in nearby Lostwithiel. If your appetite is not huge you will probably find 1 piece of fish between 2 quite adequate especially with chips & peas too!!
Can thoroughly recommend & will be back
