Advertisment for this hotel in local newspaper (Wales) so my partner and I decided to book for a weekend break, when booking I asked about parking, I was told there probably would be available parking, on arrival nobody was at the reception desk, young lady was serving behind the bar, she informed me that if there was no room outside the hotel we would have to find a space along the roadside-no spaces, there was a car park just a short distance from the hotel but it was an added expense- parking fee for three days. Our room had a lovely sea view, bed was fine, shower room clean and recently refurbished although the shower cubicle itself was small, it is such a shame that our room had been divided into two, spoiling the original features of the ceiling, the window and it seems as if the shower room had just been plonked in the corner of the room, as the room has been petitioned off we didn't need to put our tv on as we could hear it from the room next door! and the snoring! As we are in our middle 40's ( yes I know I will be old one day) the majority of the guests were a lot older than us with sticks, zimmer frames which I must add good for them, they need a break to, the hotel wasn't quite what we expected, rather cramped as well while we were eating, on a positive note the restaurant staff were polite and helpful and the food was great .

We were picked up by taxi in Coventry town centre where we live, and taken to Solihul where we joined the coach which took us all the way to Weston -Super-Mare. This procedure was repeated on the return journey and all at the expense of the hotel.
Arrival at the hotel and being allocated a room was very efficient with our luggage brought to our door by one of the pleasant staff members. The bedroom we were given was on the fourth floor but serviced by a lift which stopped just outside. Inside we had a fantastic view, and although we paid £10 each extra for the whole week, we thought it was money well spent.
Cleanliness seemed paramount at this hotel, our room always smelt fresh and clean after being serviced.Mealtimes were in two sittings, and as ours was the later one it gave us a chance to ask the early diners which meal they could reccommend.
We never stayed in after the mealtime as not being great bingo fans we always look for our entertainment elsewhere, although guests assured ur that the entertainment on offer was quite good.
Drinks in the bar were reasonably priced and cheaper than some of the pubs there. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. Being a family run concern , the owner and members of the family were always on hand if you had any problems.
I wouldn't reccommend this hotel for badly disabled guests as although there are two lifts, there are also a lot of stairs which can be very awkward if you are not too good on your feet.
We would definately visit this place again as we found it clean, friendly and had excellent food and had nice comfortable beds. The morning porridge was the best I have ever eaten. I would go back there just for that.

We stayed for a week as independent travellers, my husbands disabled parents also accompanied us. On our first night we all thought the food very mediocre, but have to say as the week went on the food got better and better, and the soup hotter. The staff were very helpful, we had booked 2 rooms with sea view, and had not been told there was an extra charge, but it was no problem they honoured the price they had quoted us. My father in law was allowed to keep his disabled scooter in reception which was a bonus. The rooms were adequate but we were lucky i saw several rather small double rooms facing the rear of the hotel which we would have definately struggled with. The room given to my parents in law was massive, and they were very happy with it. Virtually all the people staying were from coach holidays, and of an older generation, but they put my 45 year old husband to shame , 90 year olds dancing the night away, a lovely bunch of people many who have been returning year after year, who said they find the hotel vastly improved in every way. I must also mention the entertainment which was on the whole enjoyable, but Elizabeth and Peter must deserve a special mention, the chemistry between them was engaging and often very funny, as they were so natural with each other, we all so enjoyed the 2 nights they performed and would have gladly watched them every night. An amazing value for money holiday, just dont expect the ritz, we will be returning next year and hope nothing has changed, as we liked it just as it was.

We have been to this hotel before in fact it was just before Christmas, we needed a break so we just rang them for a room when we got there it was Tinsel and Turkey, we did not know this was going on but they told us just to join in and have a good time which we did,so we decided to book again this year for our 46th wedding anniversary in Feb,and we booked an extra day to cover the event, 2 days before we travelled they phoned us up to say that the hotel was closing down on the Monday so that left us short on days they did offer the following week but that was no good to us so we settled for a shorter stay and instead of having a nice 46th wedding anniversary we were travelling back home on the motorway! While we were there we still had a good time the food was good and the room was nice and warm and very clean with a good view over the bay, when the day came to settle our bill they wanted another £20 they said its for the seaview room we refused to pay it was the first time they had mentioned it, we also had it in writing how much our bill would be anyway in the end they did not charge but it left a sour taste. Apart from that our visit was an enjoyable one, the food was really good we had lots to drink it was all inclusive but we was celebrating, the entertainment was ok but we had seen it before overall we had a good time at The New Ocean Hotel.

A 2-star hotel that fulfils its classification. Seafront hotel providing clean, comfortable accommodation (although some complaints were heard about draughty windows on the upper floors), a good variety of food in ample portions and friendly, very efficient staff. Hotel appears to be undergoing a rolling refurbishment programme with a mixture of newly outfitted public rooms and a mix of bedroom styles. Not the Ritz but it doesn't charge Ritz prices - just good, honest standards that we would enjoy again.
