As a family of three on holiday we saw Indian Summer as a nice place to have a meal.
The poor waiter was the only front of house member of staff, but very helpful [the food although tasted nice took an age 35 mins+]to arrive and was not the largest meal [not sure it was home cooked]very let down by our vist .nobody else came in to eat all evening.

Food ordered to be delivered took over two hours to arrive before we cancelled and had home made cheese on toast instead

Been using this restaurant for over 20 years, firstly as the Viceroy and recently as the Indian Summer.
On a recent visit, the place was deserted with only 1 other couple eating.
The food was slow to arrive, 25mins ish, but did not have the appearance of freshly cooked food, the veg was Fried / Frozen mixed veg.
But it was tasty, plentiful and hot
Three members of staff while very helpful were to eager to ask if all was ok, and to clear away the plates even before the meal was finished.
There was no desert menu, and only filter coffee.

This is a far cry from the previous visits to this place.

Would I go again, Yes.
Is there room for improvement, Oh Yes

Before the refit (and change of management, I assume) this was a pretty exceptional place - a bit out of the way, suffering from being in competition with Jaan close by, but serving great and interesting food from a clearly excellent chef and with real attention to customers from the owner/manager. Now it is (as others have said) a bit cold, empty and soulless. We decided to see if it was worth eating there now, and the answer was definitely YES. We had a delicious lamb shank, impeccably cooked and spiced, a sweet and sour dish, aromatic and tasty, and delicately cooked bindi, with a fresh, puffy and crisp naan. Service was straightforward and good; given that we were alone there I guess it should have been. So do give it a try if you want more interesting dishes (and less intimidating portions!) than Jaan - for the cooking alone they deserve your support!
