“Saturday evening August 9th 2014”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

First time visit after Flute De Paris, wife, daughter and myself, all thought the food was excellent both in quality and quantity. Two bottles of wine plus starter and main less than £100, no complaints here re value

The menu was good with plenty of choice available, the wine list also good and varied

The girls had fish and pork belly for the main which was cooked perfectly, as was my med/rare ribeye, plenty of vegetables, again cooked to our liking

A seat by the window overlooking a full tide at Anchor Head only helped to add to the evening

Oh, I also had a couple of pints of Cornish Trophy bitter too, gorgeous

This is a very old building and as such will show signs of age too, however the effort to improve the decorations shows

Although on the end of the Weston sea front, its worth the effort to visit, you will not be disappointed

Will definitely book again

“1st time and last.”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We visited the Captains Cabin last night on the recommendation of friends. The food wasn't cheap and I would have expected better quality for the price. I think the fish swam past my fish chowder starter as there wasn't even one piece of fish in the bowl and my ribeye steak was bland as were the vegetables. Everything was dusted with paprika, why?
The decor was as bland as the steak and a plastic table cloth made it all seem more like a school canteen than a restaurant.

“What a shame”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Lyn and Richard have been here a few months now and their meals are at best just ok ,I expected a lot better having been a regular customer at the flute .
We have eaten here now 4 times recently in the evening and have also tried the Sunday roast which was as if it had been purchased at a supermarket and just presented ,the beef was so thin and bland it was just like the mass packaged sandwich beef pack ,the Yorkshire puddings small and like aunt Bessie's .
So sorry folks please up your game otherwise it will not work out well.

“Good food, great views.”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

My partner and I have called in for a drink several times recently and like sitting outside in the sun looking out over the bay. Although the old building is a bit tired the new owners have freshened the place up. We also recently booked an evening meal here with friends and had a table by the window. We had eaten at the owners previous restaurant (Flute de Paris) so had high hopes here and were not disappointed. We all had starters and main courses, the portions were ample with plenty of accompanying vegetables. Although this is a pub the food is a cut above normal pub food and we would like to eat here again.

“Fantastic dog friendly pub”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

We went to the Captains Cabin on a Sunday night for food, but unfortunately they had stopped serving food, so we stayed for drinks. The pub is fantastic with a warm friendly atmostphere, the staff could not have been more welcoming or friendly. It is also dog friendly, which was great, again the staff couldn't do enough for the dog, I think he got treated better at the Captains Cabin than we did at other restaurants we visited in Weston! This is a fantastic 'proper' pub that is well worth a try!
