My wife and i stayed here for a short break from 07.04.2014 to11.04.2014. Having stayed here previously we were pleased to find that the standards in accommodation, cleanliness and dining facilities are still of a high standard. We did upgrade to a seaview superior room and given the views and size of the room we had this was well worth doing. The staff in all departments were first class and very obliging. A minor thing I personally would complain about is the misery amount of potato given with the dinners. It would only cost pence to turn good meals into great meals. However apart from this little moan it was yet another very nice break.

Room Tip: Upgrade if possible.

Decided to have a last minute short stay in Weston-super-Mare, had previously used a rather basic B&B for nearly the same price that the Grand Atlantic charged. We could not fault the hotel from the moment we arrived, the lady on the reception was so helpful, the room (we were upgraded) was very well furnished and had a super sea view, the dinner (set menu) was basic but well cooked, the breakfast was excellent. We will certainly be staying there again

Room Tip: request a seaview room

Have stayed her many times. Self drive accommodation with half board proved to be yet again very good value when compared with bed & breakfast establishments in the area.Good car parking, they have more than trebled the reserved parking places but still plenty of unreserved places. very welcoming reception staff and all of the waiting staff are friendly and efficient. The food is varied and although basic the ingredients appear to be of good quality and nicely cooked. My request for extra bacon at breakfast was met with a very polite "of course, anything else you would like". Next table at dinner did not fancy the soup variety and a couple of alternatives were offered after the waitress had checked with the kitchen.Wine prices are a little high, but about right for an hotel. A couple of days we returned to the hotel at lunch time and had a sandwich and a beer, once again when compared with cafes in town about same price for food, BUT, freshly made, good ingredients and included crisps and salad, We paid a little extra for a sea view room, comfortable bed, bathroom, etc all OK, The lady who looked after the room deserves a special mention, clean towels, shampoo, etc as needed, room and bathroom cleaned and and fully vacuumed every day, could not be faulted. Beverage tray replenished every day.
Couple of points , in our room floorboards creaked a lot (old building) and the toilet seat came adrift, this was mentioned to reception and fixed very quickly by the maintenance man with a new auto closing toilet seat.
Worth noting that Weston is changing, they now charge to use all public toilets , so its twenty P for a pee. And the pier have now introduced a £1 admission charge per person (including children) this is for each visit. We would normally spend about £5 on coffee and a sandwich on the pier but this time walked across the road and used the sea side cafe.

Hi AmigoWawrickshire

Great to read your review following your recent stay with us, fantastic to read your comments regarding our food, service and staff. Also the room attendant who looks after your room ( I'll look back and find your room number and let the team member know) and yes I agree the £1 fee for the pier is an odd avenue for the owners to take but heyho I hope if will not detract you from coming to the grand Atlantic again

We have just returned from a 4 nights 5 days self drive at the Grand Atlantic. Staff were very good
and obliging, except the bar maid who did one night who didn't seem to know what she was doing The room was clean and well equipped but it was on the side at the end, it was very cold don't thing the heating reached that far. The food was excellent. Generally we had a good holiday and would go back again.

Room Tip: Rooms on 3rd floor on the side very cold. Probably cool in Summer

Good location and looks impressive from outside. We were upgraded to a superior room which was large with nice views. The room had information and a menu, however this does not apply to the restaurant only the lounge bar. This should be made clear. We ate in the lounge bar but the food was only just warm and not very nice. The room although parts were cleaned the shower needed a good descaling, and windows were terrible. Heating has a mind of its own !!
All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room, well worth it as the others are in need of a serious upgrade.

Have just returned from my third visit to this hotel as a 7 night self drive break & will get the bad bits out of the way first.

Our first room 103 was in need of a serious makeover, damaged wallpaper & looking very tired + the bathroom/shower was in need of a total refurbishment, the shower was a disgrace & I wouldn't expect these poor standards/conditions in the 21st century.

The drinks are costly, & £6.10 for a 250ml class of Ros'e wine + £14.95 for a 75cl bottle of Tierra Merlot that you can buy in town for £6.50 is nothing less then rampant profiteering by Shearings in my honest opinion.

Now the good bits, The staff make this hotel an excellent place to stay, service by all the staff we encountered was first class & efficient, nothing was a problem & everyone made us feel most welcome.

The hotel was warm throughout & our rooms were spotlessly cleaned everyday + the beds were comfortable.

The food was first class, varied, plentiful, hot excellently prepared & presented, & the dining room staff were quick & efficient so there was no waiting for your meals.

Had I not felt ripped off by the drinks pricing I'd have given this hotel & higher rating.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view room the higher the better, & don't bother to pay for reserved...
